Good find.  I guess they got too many complaints from people about not having CD versions available.  That is the first I've heard of it, and I'm an ADC member.

I just happened to see it when I was browsing on the Apple's site, i was curious if it was only DVD or not. I just hope they send ADC members it on DVD, I don't want the CD version.

I'd like both really. My iBook doesn't have a DVD drive, so I have to install Tiger the way I described earlier. More than likely, we will only get the DVD, since it seems that the CD's are a special-request-only thing.

Well, almost would be nice if they asked what people would prefer. I only have a PowerBook recent model, so it has a combo drive in it.

Oh, and if anyone hasn't looked at the form to send in for the Tiger cds...Apple tells you that you should makea copy of your Install DVD :D

Apple recommends that you make a copy of the completed order form, install DVD, and proof-of-purchase for your records.

What kind of implications might his have? LOL :woot:

Yeah, I noticed that. That begs the question: If you have a SuperDrive to copy the DVD with, why do you need the CD's????

Well, I don't know. I think someone would get the CD's, after copying their DVD if they also have a Mac that only has a cd-rom drive in it, and not pay for the extra copy of OS X, that would be my guess. I only have a combo drive, my iMac that I owned had a superdrive, but I never used its dvd burning capibilities, especially after I got a DVD burner for my desktop.

I guess where it said "Redmond, start your photocopiers" might be true, that or "All Mac users, start your DVD burners" :woot:

well is there a way to fool it into thinking i have firewire, cause the g3 doesnt and well i really want tiger on there...

You'll probably have to wait a little while. There is a utility called XPostFacto that allows the installation of OS X on unsupported machines. I'm sure it will be updated for Tiger once it comes out. It allowed people to install Panther on machines that didn't have USB, so it will probably allow Tiger to be installed on your iMac.

PearPC would probably run any flavor of OSX better to be honest.

yea im assuming you have no idea what you are talking about since you troll so often on here, as a matter of fact that i have tried panther on pear pc on my athlon rig and let me assure you, you have no idea what you are talking about. my 350mhz g3 runs it 100 times more smoothly than pear pc does.

I am very suprised how fast it does run actually, i can use photoshop with no probs, and have itunes, safari, ichat, and msn open at the same time with no hitches or real slow downs. now of course its not a speed demon, ive tried panther on a g5 and its much much faster of course, but for a little imac g3 made in what 99 or 00, its pretty impressive just how fast apple got it to run...
