0 PseudoRandomDragon
What you should do with new computers is just format them and install your own copy of Win98/2k/XP/whatever because with all the junk they put in, norton is the least of your worries. Norton is probably one of the worst though. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/305317-does-norton-slow-the-pc-down/#findComment-585730533 Share on other sites

0 joshpo
Agreed. And once you have your fresh install I wouldn't recommend using Norton. Search the forums for tons of threads on the best AV utilities, some are free. 0 david.rothera
Think I am going to format at the weekend, in the meantime I have managed to scrap all the junk and am atm scrapping Norton. The startup list is clean and services, registry etc have also all been cleaned..... This should make it a bit faster right? 0 Piepke
wtf?Norton is Symantec     :o  585730541[/snapback] That's what I was thinking... I used to have norton too on my PC untill like 4y ago I tried other software. All I can say is that Norton realy slows down your system. Now I'm using AVG antivirus. Free, does what it has to do and doesn't slow my PC down. But if you have a PC that came with all the softw pre-installed then there are most likely other programs that are slowing it down. They always put a lot of crap on it that you don't need.
