I think that a lof of people have a "grey"version of one OS.....

If Microsoft will add a piracy check.....LINUX will come out of the darkness.......

Don't you think so?

But Autopatcher isn't software from Microsoft, it only makes it possible to do an installation at once :D If Microsoft thinks that they have to do a piracy check, a lof of forums will be gone soon........ if you feel the need or responsiblity to do that too. Just go with the flow.......

Do you really thank that programmers of applications like Veritas (Wininstall) gonna do this too? Only because they use MS products or codes? Microsoft writes on the website how to make MSI packages with third-party software. On the other hand it's a lot of work for programmers. That's the most positve point I see at this moment.....

One thing....does this belong to the section SPYWARE???

:ninja: Pascal B :ninja:

Okay people, you win! I will not enable the check. Let's hope Microsoft adds the needed checks in the hotfixes instead of the website.

Well, well let me say thanks.........Raptor. Did you really think Mircosoft would blame you or something like that? That's the last you have to worry about!

We'll see what Microsoft is going to do in the nearest future with this piracy thing.....I think that it will be available through the website only. Otterwise it would be unpossible to make SMS packages for sending to clients in a network.

:ninja: Pascal B :ninja:

Raptor, you are coinciding with Microsoft to help stop piracy. Is that what you really intend to do? What a pointless feature if you enable it. Are you trying to get brownie points here? You will lose a lot of support from the community if you enable this feature.

Worried that your pirated XP install can't be updated?

People, this topic was created for something else. Not to discuss about a piracy check.

I think that Raptor is right about it. If Microsoft will use the piracy check in a patch or hotfix it should be done in AutoPatcher too. Otherwise it would be illegal what we are doing.

If Microsoft will do the check trough the website (windows update) then the choice will be by Raptor. He will do what he thinks is best to too.

Now back to the start of this topic:

updates not applying

The End!! :sleep:

then the updates would check for themselves though !! no need for AP to do it itself :pinch:

but i agree, this topic has gone waayyy off topic, and in the end its up to raptor, whatever he decides im fine with :)

:D Framework installation troubles are gone :D
I will post here, later on this day or tomorrow (Sunday the 15th), the settings what are wrong and what should be done to fix it. Concerning the AutoPatcher Modules

Why not directly? It's my birthday....today....... :fun:

updates not applying:

Check the settings below for each module using the Autopatcher Module Editor 2.0

Microsoft .NET Framework version 1.1

Module name: renamed in the April release

File name: dotnetfx.exe (original filename)

In the tab folder ?Behavior? check the Value Priority

Be sure it has the date:

Priority=20030625

If you need to install the language pack

Filename: langpack.exe (original filename)

In the tab folder ?Behavior? check the Value Priority

Be sure it has the date:

Priority=20030626

Microsoft .NET Framework version 1.1 Service Pack 1

Module name: dotnet11sp1.amc

Filename: NDP1.1sp1-KB867460-X86.exe (original filename)

In the tab folder ?Behavior? check the Value Priority

Be sure it has the date:

Priority=20040803

KB886903 Microsoft .NET Framework version 1.1 Service Pack 1 Security update

Module name: kb886903.amc

Filename: NDP1.1sp1-KB886903-X86.exe (original filename) or (after extraction) M886903.msp

In the tab folder ?Behavior? check the Value Priority

Be sure it has the date:

Priority=20050208

The KB886903 Microsoft .NET Framework version 1.1 Service Pack 1 Security update must be removed form the LITE version. Make it only avaiable in the full-version.

The dates are the most important settings that you need to check. As in the example above the installation of the modules works fine. The installation will be done depending on the order of the dates.

Within the explorer you will see an order of the modules / files in a different way. Don?t give that any attention, it?s all about the installation and the way AutoPatcher installs the modules.

    • Absolutely NOBODY has suggested such a conclusion. I am affirming the sober reality check that AV2's overall market adoption will take longer than AV1's adoption rate -- which, by the way, is the whole point of the article! While PCI-SIG is productive (on paper), other WGs have created all sorts of confusing progress plans that consumers have tuned-out of their improvements... HTML/W3C, USB, HDMI, BT, WIFI (ieee802.11) as a few other groups where spec naming conventions, split progress paths, overlapping ambitions... I'm not critiquing the AV specs group; I'm simply affirming that adoption for AV2 faces headwinds beyond the macroeconomics of it all.

    • No thanks! WebView trash is unacceptable. I only use software that's native.
