any compliments with ur ibook/titanium g4 powerbook?

Recommended Posts

I finally got my titanium g4 powerbook a week ago and the thing is simply beautiful! like a work of art that belongs in the museum, ive never seen a laptop this beautiful and well designed before. Even the box and everything that it came in was beautiful too. I finally took my powerbook out for the first time and i was at starbucks on the net, and i got so many ppl looking left and right and even a couple of people asking me about it. I was impressed how much attention it draws.

I was just wondering if you guys had any similar reactions when you bought your apple notebook out in the public? Would love to hear your stories... :)

Although my mac was the new iMac the out of box experience was very cool. I remember it coming when I was talking to wickedkitten, The box was all nice and shiny, I opened the box and the first thing that you see is various pictures of the iMac. Then once you move that there's a little pouch for the mouse and speakers then finally the iMac.

Compared to my Sony VAIO laptop, which is supposed to compete with apple with style, it came in a brown cardboard box :right:

I felt like a kid at christmas when it arrived at the door. my first time mac experience has been fantastic and has made me start to save up for better. It's also made me want stuff like Digital camera's, iPods etc. Don't ask me why.

So, this time next year I'll have a powerbook or a kick ass tower ;)

I am planning to purchase an iBook and maybe do the same thing as you 212RikanMofo. I imaginged that I was on the Underground, in London, and when it was the launch date for Microsoft Windows XP, I brought a new laptop with it and the boot screen comes on and everyone just stares around me, "Hey, what operating system is that?", imaging :D.

    • You're right that it does not follow the plain meaning of the word, but in this context, it is a legal term defined in 49 U.S.C. Kind of how "wire fraud" laws apply even if a physical wire was not used. Given that it is codified in law, and it isn't just automotive journalists that don't understand evolving technology, I highly doubt congress would change a well understood term just because technology makes the term slightly less actuate.
    • This is exactly why I keep saying we are not ready for human free self-driving. These little "bugs" are may seem like random one-offs. There was also the Waymo that drove between police with drawn weapons and the suspect they were pointing them at. From a software perspective it is easy to understand how those extremely rare situations may not have been programed for, but that is the point. If AI needs to be told to watch out for every possible contingency, then it can never be successful. There will always be the possibility of a first encounter that the AI needs to understand to avoid.

    • Recycle Bin has been broken for literal YEARS now. The setting to delete files older than 30 days from the bin which is on by default doesn't even work. I have files older than 4 months in it and they are just there still...
