and i'd like to add that if you make bevelled cheese to sell, purely because it IS what sells, as you did admit, it';s not wise to post said purpose built 'bevelled cheese for sale' on a forum where a majority of the users can detect a good design with their eyes closed.

and THEN, when they offer advice/critique, you in turn try to justify it as 'originality' over and over again.

like someone said, it's art & you can't pleae everyone, but don't try to play people for fools. (well the one's you arent making money off anyway :shifty: ) It's like a sweatshop factory worker going to a designer house in italy and telling them they know how to make clothes better because they sell more.

I have to tell you guys that you're wrong. Although you think that the style is unuseable it is not. As a beta tester I have seen first hand that this style is great and completely usable. I had it applied for so long that I opted to post it as my dt in the monthly thread. Do me a favour and try this style before you jump to conclusions. If you still feel that way after trying it then to each his own but until then don't even try to argue with me.

People are allowed opinions.? And the popular opinion is that the skin is largely unusable.? You can't say we're "wrong", each to his own.

yes he can, because he has acutally used it. you are basing your opinion off of a single screenshot. once you havusedb> it, like only he has, you can tell us how unusable it is. if you still think so that is. but until then quit bitching. if you hate it so much get the hell out of the thread.

Let's not get so accusitive here, StevoFC. I was merely stating that someone telling us that we're wrong is a very poor way of offering an opinion. I haven't used the style no, nor was I giving an opinion myself. Those that have given an opinion are giving so with the only information they have available - the screenshot. My post was merely in response to his choice of language, and I don't appreciate the tone of your post.

I can assure any and everyone posting that my work is totally useable in every area of the windows interface, I pride myself on making usuable, provocative skins that offer maximum userbility and customization with respect to the balance needed for both.

Thanks StevoFC and Rob.. theres no such word as accusitive.

...and Rob.. theres no such word as accusitive.

I don't want to get petty about this, but yes, while I may have spelt it incorrectly, the word does exist:

ac?cu?sa?tive  Audio pronunciation of "accusative" ( P )  Pronunciation Key  (-kyz-tv)

adj.

  1. Of, relating to, or being the grammatical case that is the direct object of a verb or the object of certain prepositions.

  2. Accusatory.

ac?cu?sa?to?ry  Audio pronunciation of "Accusatory" ( P )  Pronunciation Key  (-kyz-t?r, -tr) also ac?cu?sa?to?ri?al (-t?r-l, -tr-)

adj.

Containing or implying accusation: an accusatory glare.

Your theme may not be to everyone's taste. Sure, it may "pay your bills", a fact you're touting quite heavily, but reading through the thread I find it sad that on several occasions you've made unnecessary remarks to anyone that has posted anything but praise. One example is that people should stop making the same comments on all your work; but if that's what they feel about all your work, why shouldn't they? Don't take this the wrong way, I'm not meaning to flame you, I just think you need to take criticism a little better if you're to post your c:)ations here :)

All accusations aside...

I have used this skin. I think that the skin is amazing and very detailed! It has color where color should be it has brightness where brightness should be... all of the roll-overs are in tact. Overall this skin is very pleasing to the eyes and very well designed.

9/10 VStyler !!!

..umm.. u didnt say accusative you said accusitive.. may i suggest you look a little more carefully next time? at the grammar and dare i say..at the theme?

And may I request you look more carefully at my post, where I stated "but yes, while I may have spelt it incorrectly, the word does exist". And if we're being picky, my grammar was impeccable, even if my spelling was not.

And why are you suggesting I look more carefully at your theme? Just because I don't particularly like it, does not mean I'm wrong or that my eyesight needs checking! It's just a personal opinion, can we just agree to disagree here because this is getting very petty, and for the theme author to get into an argument over one person diagreeing with them is very sad indeed.

Look Rob if you are offended by what I said I'm sorry. I wasn't intending to attack anyone, however I see trolls in all of Winswy's threads that will bad mouth the vs without even giving it a chance. I've tested the vs and I wanted to clarify to all that it is usable.

It may not be your tastes, hell it's not even my taste as I am a minimalist. I try to make an effort to not let my agenda get in the way and judge all of Winswy's works fairly. I respect everyones right to free speech, but after you've made your insulting comment, can't you please leave this poor guy alone. All he is doing is trying to feed his family and some people here tear a strip off his back for no reason. I don't know how John takes it. I know I wouldn't.

@ Stevo: Thanks for clarifying my post faster than I was able to.

WELL, after just finishing the 'port' from IEbar to Y'z Toolbar, I can say the theme is coming along nicely. V-S is working his ass off to try and finish the theme up :) Hopefully he releases it soon and gets to work on the next theme which is what im stoked for. After using this theme for a few mins, it's easily a very user friendly theme. It's very dark but is still very bright by the font color choices. I have one complaint about the Font, as it can be a little too futuristic for me, but that's kind of the whole point of this theme.

One thing that should be pointed out is the attention to detail V-S puts into these Visual Styles. A screenshot doesn't really do justice to any of his themes, as there are little mouse overs and stuff like that that just suprises you when you first test it out. I really like that about these themes. Of course, I'm a half minimalist. There are some things that even at 1680x1050 seem a little big to me, but thats just because i like a smaller size startbar. But I didn't spend hundreds of hours making this theme, so yea. There's a lot of details I'd like to show off, but I think we will just have to wait until it's completely finished, plus I really don't feel like taking a screenshot right now. :)

I wish I could say more, but there is only so much you can say. However, let's again make one thing clear about the theme.

IT IS USABLE I could easily use this day to day, especially LED Red.

8.5/10 - It would be a ten if I wasn't a half minimalist.

*waits for his shellstyle*

Thanks to all my beta testers and those who have supported me throughout this endeavour.

I think it kicks ass. Very well done. However, since I am an artist that shares my work for free, I am not inclined to purchase the work of another...

Trust me, I know how many hours can be put into work like that, but unless you're doing it strictly for a living, those of us that present work of this type are doing it in our spare time anyways for the use and enjoyment of others.

    • Microsoft Teams is getting a controversial location tracking feature that users may hate by Usama Jawad Image generated with Microsoft Copilot Earlier this year, Microsoft planned to roll out a controversial location tracking feature in Teams, but following customer feedback, it decided to delay its release. The bad news is that the company has decided to launch it later this year, but it's based on roughly the same design that was shared earlier, which means that many users still have good reason to worry. Basically, Microsoft Places and Teams have received workplace check-ins via Wi-Fi. The idea is that if an employee arrives at the office and connects to their enterprise network, their profile status indicator will show them as being present in the office. For example, if you arrive at work, open Teams on your PC, and connect to the "Studio B" company Wi-Fi network, your Teams profile will indicate that you are present in "Studio B", as shown below: Microsoft says that this feature is basically a replacement for physical workplace check-in peripherals, it reduces the need to manually update your status, and it also enables co-workers to know that you're at work so that they can coordinate in-person meetings with you. IT admins can enable this workplace check-in capability at a tenant level, and users have the ability to control whether they want to enable it or not. Of course, all of that sounds great on paper, but naturally, many Teams customers may still have concerns, as they did before. This is because it enables your reporting manager and other members of the organization to track if you are at the office, when you arrive at the office, and where you are right now. This could be problematic for people who work in what they consider to be flexible work environments or hybrid setups, and this kind of location tracking could be considered an invasion of privacy. Microsoft has tried to alleviate some of these concerns by letting users know that they can manually set their location easily, which essentially overrides workplace check-in if they feel uncomfortable with it. However, that doesn't really solve the problem because your organization could enforce a workplace policy that mandates that this feature remains enabled. The Redmond tech giant has also assured users that this capability does not store historical data and is only a real-time indicator of location. Finally, it only generates a signal when you connect to a corporate network, which means that if you are working from home and connect your PC to your personal Wi-Fi, it won't broadcast your location to your employer; you will simply be shown as "Remote". Microsoft has encouraged IT admins to prepare for this change and begin informing users so they know what to expect once it begins rolling out later this year.
    • Wow, Microsoft IS cooking lately... This only shows that they COULD improve, they just chose not to for whatever reasons. That obsession with AI was destroying them from the inside out.

It closes the remaining gaps with qBittorrent and fixes the Windows settings/tray/splash issues several of you hit. Fixed Settings now actually save. A whole class of preferences — speed limits (and the alternative limits), max active downloads, seed ratio, listen port, max connections, DHT/uTP/encryption, VPN interface, kill switch and proxy — weren't being persisted and reset to defaults on every launch. They now round-trip correctly. (Thanks to everyone who reported "the upload limit always goes back to 0".) Splash and tray toggles stick on Windows. Turning off the startup animation (or "close to tray") no longer reverts — the Windows registry stored these booleans as integers and the UI was misreading them. Close-to-tray hint. The first time the window hides to the tray you get a one-time notification, so the app doesn't look like it vanished (Windows 11 tucks new tray icons into the overflow). macOS Dock icon size. The icon filled its canvas edge-to-edge and rendered larger than neighbouring apps; it now uses the standard safe-area padding. Native file picker language. The "Torrent file / All files" filter in the open dialog follows the app language instead of being hard-coded. Added — qBittorrent parity Alternative speed limits toggle — a turtle button in the toolbar flips your throttled limits on/off instantly, independent of the scheduler. Follow system theme — switch light/dark automatically with the OS (Settings → Appearance). Pre-allocate disk space — reserve the full file size up front to reduce fragmentation (Settings → Downloads). Recheck data on add — optionally force a hash check when adding a torrent, so existing or partial files on disk are detected. Port status indicator — a 🔴 dot in the status bar shows whether your listen port looks reachable (UPnP/NAT-PMP + listen state; fully local, no external check). Add torrent from URL — File → Add torrent from URL (Ctrl+U) fetches a remote .torrent and routes it through the normal add dialog. Export .torrent — right-click a torrent → Export .torrent to save its metadata file. Already there (in case you missed it) Watch folder — auto-add .torrent files dropped into a monitored directory (Settings → Files). This release just surfaces it. Incomplete files already carry a .!bt suffix until they finish. Under the hood Regression tests for the settings-persistence and Windows boolean bugs. A new Qt Quick Test harness covering the startup splash and the design-system widgets.
