ok here is the scenario.

i got a OLD p2 with 32 mb ram ( i guess :p ) it has no monitor ( i just dont want to pull my current monitor and plug it ) and it has no keyboard mouse ( actually it has prehistoric 101 key keyboard... but ... lets say i dont see it :p ) and NO CD ROM.( ok i know you guys are thinking of closing this thread but bear with me .... i do have a spare DVD rom ... but common i dont want to attach that to this pc ).

ok before you kill me let me add NO FLOPPY DRIVE TOO .... ok please dont kill me ... i will add floppy drive as i am sure without it its impossible to install anything on this.

all it has is p2-200 32 mb ram 650 MB ( again MB) seagate hard disk and a network card. if booted , the windows 95 installed some 4 years ago still boots and i can see photoshop 2 ( mayb 3) and all those prehistoric softwares on it.

Now i want to make this a standalone router (going to replace the one-port network card with 4 in 1 network card) + firewall + proxy server for my home net. ( this is just a project guys not real solution as i am tire of seeing this pc just lying dead.)

the os of my choice is linux-router live CD, for which i am searching/thinking how can i install it.without needing physical access to the system.

do you guys have any suggestion? do you know anyone else has done this and documented on some forum or blog.

(google isnt spitting anything interesting on "headless linux installation")

This product is a single floppy distribution of Linux designed for the sole purpose of sharing and protecting an Internet connection. The floppy can be created using either a Microsoft Windows wizard, or by using a set of Linux shell scripts. In addition to being designed to have very low hardware requirements, the floppy release of Coyote Linux is able to provide the performance and uptime that is expected from any Linux based system. This release is available free of charge and can be downloaded from the "Downloads" link in the left hand menu.

give Coyote Linux a look

Good luck on your project (Y)

this is going to be one crazy project.

my craziest was installing Centos 4 on a LIVE fedora core 2 server with 60 + websites running on.

i did it in 2 hour and with 2 reboots the server was running on Centos 4. :D
