Ritalin
Hey everybody, I have been trying to get some old stuff off a CD i burned a while back, but every time, i get an error saying: Cyclic Redundancy Check error with the file name in front of it... Does it mean my cd is corrupt? Will it fail every time? What can i do to get the stuff on it? Thx in advance David Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/309335-cyclic-redundancy-check-error/ Share on other sites

Rob Veteran Posted April 16, 2005 Veteran Share Posted April 16, 2005 The CRC check you speak of is a kind of checksum check. It's basically referring to the fact that your CD is corrupt. Now, it could be that the actual CD is corrupt, or it could be that your drive is struggling to read it properly. Try it in another drive, and try wiping the CD with a soft non-abraisive cloth. Post-It Note
There are some programs that will try to read the data many many times until it reads it, but I forgot the name of the program. Maybe someone else knows. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/309335-cyclic-redundancy-check-error/#findComment-585785347 Share on other sites
