Noise canceling headphones, choice of 3

I looked around at some places and got a choice of some noise canceling headphones. I'm leaning tword the Philips HN110, they seem to be the best, but I wanted to ask of your opinions. Okay so here are the choices:

Philips HN110 - $60

RCA HPNC200 - $50

Sony - $50

You guys would know better than me. Thanks :)

Closed headphones also provide isolation to a certain degree, and they have superior sound compared to noise-cancelling headphones in the same price range.

i prefer the phillips ones

Closed = the driver is sealed and doesn't leak noise like open headphones. It doesn't isolate 10db, but the isolation is usually enough for normal use.

If you're getting this for use on airplanes or around really noisy areas, 10db isolation is not going to be enough.

As for sound quality, from what I've read, these headphones are no match for the Sony Eggo, Sennheiser HD270, Sennheiser PX200, Sony V6 etc., which are all closed headphones in the same price range.

If you want noise reduction, get canalphones from Shure or Etymotic (they isolate 20db+). If you want sound quality yet still want some noise reduction, get closed headphones.

I suggest that you head over here: http://www6.head-fi.org and ask the true audiophiles before you make a final decision.

I agree.

I personally got a pair of ex81, and they provide a good bit of isolation.

Canalphones are excellent and provide excellent isolation.

If you still want isolating headband-headphones, I recommend something like Senn PXC-250, but if the price does matter, it's much better to stick with regular headphones.

Sony MDR-v150 is what I would recommend. They are closed ear and only cost 20 bucks. The sound is actually pretty good.

Even though you are our honoured moderator, I will have to disagree with you.

DO Not buy any Sony V series. (With the exception of V6)

All of the bass-drives of the V series are unusually big and produce super big fat giant bass that will muffle your music. There is no clarity at all; just produces a one huge overlapped sound. If you enjoy listening to this monotonous mono-sounds, especially in a closed-cans that's supposed to have a big soundstage, do not hesitate to buy one.

However, if you are more of a stereo (Which I'm pretty sure most of you are) sound guy, then stay away from these.

I have these and love them. The sounds, especially mids, are much clearer than other headphones I've used and there are reviews that agree with me. There does not seem to be any overemphasis of the lows at all.

Well I personally think that these are horrible cans. (Don't take it personally please)

I had one of these, as well as a v250, and tried my friends v300.

They all sounded very muddy to me with exaggerated bass.

Oh well, they are pretty decent none the less. with a 98 sensitivty and 18 - 22,000 range, stats wise they do pretty well. I know on my mp3 player, I actually find the bass just right. It seems to be on the same levels as the mids and highs without over exxagerating for the bass addicts out there.

I guess this differs from people to people.

Have you every tried Sony MDR-EX51/71s?

They are one of the most unbalanced phones I have every heard, with their super-bass boost that you can only experience from products of Sony.

But somehow, those phones show more clarity than the MDR-V series to me.

those ar earbuds no? I dislike buds so I have never tried them. I've been very picky about my headphones. Honestly, my v150's are a little beat up and I want to replace them but I can't find another pair with as decent a frequency range and stylish look. The few good looking one's I've seen are like 30 - 20,000 which is just terrible.

lol what kind of logic are you using? have you ever used them? i have them, ive also used many other headphones and the only sub 70 dollar headphones/headset that hold a candle to pc150s are the plantronics dsp500. the bass and sound quality is premium, and when played at high volumes the music doesnt distort or pop/crack.

I'm going to pay $300 for a pair of headphones. Yeah right.

Sorry, normal headphones do not have a mic built on.

Oh yeah, even Sennheiser website shows you that they are headsets specifically made for computer/communication use.
