NFL Discontinues MNF on ABC in 2006

Whoa...

Then again...

ESPN will continue to make its NFL games available on free, over-the-air television in the participating team markets each week.

I seem to recall having to pay for basic cable. Guess according to this putz I've been getting screwed all these years.

lol, you don't pay for OTA ;)

although they did just cut like the viewing population in half, even if they still show it in the hometown.

Madden is awesome

pulease.. he sounds like your grandfather telling u a ton of things you already know and using the same lines every single year for the past 10 years! to each his own but if they cut him loose i wouldnt miss him.

Who didn't see this coming? Slowly the major leagues are turning to cable more and more. Doesn't the NBA air its entire playoffs, aside from the Finals, on cable? It's jsut going to continue. On PTI today they said 90% of homes have TVs in the U.S. and 70% of those have cable. That doesn't include satellite. Granted, here you're not really losing any games per week since NBC is picking up the Sunday Night game. And it doesn't necessarily mean Madden is out since, as I'm sure everyone knows, ABC and ESPN are both owned by Disney. He also contributed on ESPN's Monday Night Countdown each week so he had a relationship with ESPN already.

not to mention no ESPN in canada :@

and hasn't ABC had monday night since the beginning?

What a dumb move by NBC. The Sunday night games have been anything but "great" the past 5 years or so...wow, Jacksonville at Cincinnati...woohoo!!! ESPN, I'm sure, was happy to exchange Sunday night for Monday night.

Man, when NBC lost the NBA a few years ago, they also lost their minds.

And as far as announcers, I'll be happy with either Al Michaels & John Madden or the Sunday night crew from ESPN. Gary Thorn wouldn't be bad either, considering he has no NHL to broadcast.

rajput, to answer your question, yes it HAS had it from the beginning. And soloredd supposedly they're going to experiment with that flexible schedule so that feautre games can be moved around in the time slots.

NBC will devote its entire Sunday night prime-time lineup to the NFL. The Sunday night games will start at 8:15 p.m. ET and include flexible scheduling for the final seven weeks of the season, details of which will be developed by the league. Source

I hope they do go for an earlier start time. Also, I really wich they'd move the Super Bowl to Saturday, so I can more properly get my drink on without worrying about work on Monday.

 "more properly get my drink on"....I hear ya!

Something positive from this? Maybe just maybe.. Madden will do the MNF still on ESPN.. and NBC will not hire Joe to do Sunday nights..and thus NO MORE JOE. I'm sorry to fans that like him, but to me he's a jerk. And I much rather hear Madden then Joe!

    • Thanks for liking it! 😊 That's Arch Linux with Gnome.
    • LOL. Can't even quote and edit a comment correctly. Figures you're a Linux user.
    • It won't perform hugely better than the 3080 unless you're VRAM limited in games. Have you tried putting new thermal pads on them 3080 and giving it a good clean to see if you can regain your temps and overclock?
