"Downloaded Program Files" folder

I'm hoping someone can help me with this.

I am trying to delete some files from the folder c:\windows\Downloaded Program Files. When I open the folder, I can't see any contents but...when I check the Properties of the folder it says its 10mb in size.

So, what I did was copied the folder to another location and put it in a zip file then extracted it and voila the contents were there. I can see all the files.

My problem is, I know this folder is a system folder for Internet Explorer so I don't want to move it and do the zip file thing to the original cause it loses it's special system folder properties.

So, can I delete this folder altogether and recreate it. Will Internet Explorer recreate it? Why can't I see the contents in the first place?

Any suggestions?

If there's stuff that needs to be manually forcibly removed, try doing it from the command prompt.

Check your folder options and make sure the 'hide protected system files' box is unchecked.
