protomor
Ive been wondering what people drift. I know FF style drifting (civics, sentras, etc) arent by everyones standard true drifting but if you attempt it. I want to know what you do it in. Most of the drifting world either uses an AE86 corolla or a 240sx. I personally think doing cliche things is no fun so I drift a 1989 BMW 325i. (the one in my sig) specs are: Falken Azenis Tires Pioneer 3-way speakers/head unit Sparco Shift knob Sparco Warrior Seat B&M short Shifter Bilistein Shocks H&R Springs Turner Motorsports Stainless Steel Brake Lines Autothority E-PROM chip 325IS 3.73 LSD Axxis Brake Pads Some random cone filter. It was in fair condition when I got it (93,000 miles) so I only had to do a few things to restore it. Too bad I got into an accident before and now I have a red door and fender till I can get em painted. ~190hp ~200ft/lbs torque redlines at 6,800 Id tell you my quarter mile but I havent gotten around to that yet. so what do you guys have? TonyNZ
People that say drifting isn't a sport - Turn off your computer, put on your shoes, and go out side. There are compertitions with drifting involved. Here in NZ, we drift cerfios, sentras, silvas, etc. Alot of boyracers here :p Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/311016-drifting/#findComment-585804332 Share on other sites

Miran
Looks cool, but not a sport. Baseball is not a sport, chess is not a sport, they are games. This looks like a hobby. Sport involves some sort of strenuous physical activity. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/311016-drifting/#findComment-585804405 Share on other sites
emo
i dont drift, but people that are trashing on it are the real idiots here. he doesnt want to know if you like it or not, and if you dont, then dont trash it by saying dumb things. maneuvering an automobile while going sideways at high speeds is a challenge that not everyone can do. so i have respect for people that do things like this. such as bungee jumping or sky-diving. Just because its physical doesnt mean anything mentally as well. When drifting there is physical activity and skill involved. Afterall you are DRIVING arent you? and countersteering and such. Sensayshun
Is drifting what I think it is, as in what you do in NFSU2? If so there's a local group I see who are pretty talented at it, but damn I wouldn't like to be paying for the tyres. Obviously they're all chavs on the dole so they do it in their ford fiesta's but they don't seem to mind. protomor
its fairly similar to need for speed but the physics are very very different from the game. if you click the link on my banner you can go to the slideways page (my min team), theres a few videos you can download if you wanna see what its really like. tiagosilva29
Sorry, but what exactly is "drifting"? It's when you slide in a very smooth way in the curves? Is it possible that I was saying that baseball does not involve large amounts of strenuous activity? I think yes! Precisely the reason so many baseball players are fat. You think you could get away with that in soccer or hockey? As I said, it's not a diss.. Drifting may require skill and mental ability, but it is not a sport, by the definition of the word.
