wll my drawing tablet work on linux?

Recommended Posts

Hi as you can see from my previous topic I am thinking about moving getting linux(probably ubuntu),but I have a UC logic digital drawing tablet,it says its for windows and all the drivers and software are for windows(although I never use the software),I was wondering if it might work on linux, because I love it and if it wont work then I probably wont use linux as my main OS.

thanks in advanced

well if the drivers are for windows then i doubt it will work unless ubuntu has a built in generic driver; and then it wont work well.

but either way, seriously bad choice of tablet man; that thing is worse than using my finger to paint the mona lisa.

get a wacom, i am pretty sure they do linux drivers, and they are FAR higher quality, 100 fold.

Couldn't get any info on possible Linux support for UC-Logic tablets other than some UC-Logic tablets seem to work to, but obviously nothing to write home about... Maybe that has changed, most info I found is quite old, and most cheapo tablets work (Genius, Aiptek).

All I can tell for sure is that the support for Wacom tablets on Linux is pretty much perfect (even cheap Volito and Graphire tablets, I use an Intuos? USB myself)...

Ok thanks for the help...and yes it may be a cheap tablet...but hey it beats using a mouse  ,I tried using it on my moms computer(she uses windows xp) without installing the drivers and it did work although the pressure functions did not,

so it could be used as a sort of plug n play pen mouse I suppose,so it might work on linux,I don't use the pressure functions too often(I do more pixel art),so I guess it wouldn't be to bad.

thanks again

A UC-Logic tablet appears as a mouse to the PC when a driver is not installed. So, you should be able to get it to work perfectly as a pen mouse using a standard mouse driver.

However, to get the pressure sensitivity feature, you need a tablet driver, one that is compatible with Wintab Interface Specification 1.1. For example, WizardPen Driver should also work with UC-Logic tablets. But I have not tried it and am not sure that it will really work. The driver is listed below anyway.

    • Not even an OLED display on the laptops. Also it seems that the laptop design isn't the same as the Surface Ultra model. Looks like bargain bin at high prices.

Targeted at server, desktop and embedded use, it is now the only professional-quality virtualization solution that is also Open Source Software. Presently, VirtualBox runs on Windows, Linux, macOS, and Solaris hosts and supports a large number of guest operating systems including but not limited to Windows (NT 4.0, 2000, XP, Server 2003, Vista, 7, 8, Windows 10 and Windows 11), DOS/Windows 3.x, Linux (2.4, 2.6, 3.x, 4.x, 5.x and 6.x), Solaris and OpenSolaris, OS/2, OpenBSD, NetBSD and FreeBSD. Some of the features of VirtualBox are: Modularity. VirtualBox has an extremely modular design with well-defined internal programming interfaces and a client/server design. This makes it easy to control it from several interfaces at once: for example, you can start a virtual machine in a typical virtual machine GUI and then control that machine from the command line, or possibly remotely. VirtualBox also comes with a full Software Development Kit: even though it is Open Source Software, you don't have to hack the source to write a new interface for VirtualBox. Virtual machine descriptions in XML. The configuration settings of virtual machines are stored entirely in XML and are independent of the local machines. Virtual machine definitions can therefore easily be ported to other computers. • OK, now ask yourself how are they going to enforce that law? By requiring every single adult to prove their age and provide their legal identity documents to an UNREGULATED 3rd party company that already has a long track record of multiple data breaches. Not to mention, parliament have voted AGAINST this ban, twice, and Starmer is going ahead anyway. So, where's the democracy here, because that looks like dictatorship to me. The solution here is parental responsibility, not government control. Run some public service announcements on TV and UK social media teaching parents how to setup parental controls. That's already been proven to actually work. But the, this is not and has NEVER been about keeping kids safe. It's about control and monitoring. Watching what you're doing online and controlling what you can see and what you can say.
    • Interesting read. I knew the adware was quite controversial at the time, however never realised to the point The Guardian wrote an article about Patchou. I just said no and enjoyed his creation, I’d probably be a lot more wary of something like that today though.
