moto phones with BT, what is the purpose of that? is it just for transferring files to and from your pc? i thought you were able to connect to other moto phones with bt and share files?

i tried to connect my v600 with a v551 and it didn't find any devices...

but the sony ericsson t610 it found my v600, but i couldn't browse any files, but at least it recognized it.

is there a way i can get it to connect and share some ringtones and wps?

afaik, you cannot do any file-sharing w/ Motorola's BT. I have a v710 and there is an actual lawsuit over this. This is one of the main reasons i bought the phone. All i can do w/ my bluetooth is DUN b/w it and my Axim x50. Also, you can use the BT accessories too like the wireless BT headset.

I want file-sharing damnit. ;)

I transferred pics with my v600 to my friend's Nokia phone and vice versa. The 710 was not crippled because of Motorola, that was Verizon who shut off most of the features. I send files to and from my PC and also between other people's phones. You may want to make sure the BT services are turned on for both phones. Motorola is notoroious for shutting off after a minute.

All we did was select a pic and say Send Via Bluetooth. Then we would pair the phones and the file would send. I did not browse files with the phone, but I was able to browse my phone with my PC. It may only allow send/receive from phone to phone. The phones are paired right?

i have 2 motorolas with bluetooth, and they copy files no problem. Pics, ringtones, etc... to my ipaq and vice versa. ! wierd thing about it is that motos are only discoverable for 60 seconds, so you have to establish the original partnership in that timeframe in order to swap files.

As far as the v710 goes, the bt is crippled (you can only use it for bt headsets) because vzw didn't want people doing stuff for free that they can make $ off of. PLus, the mp cam on that phone blows. the lg vx8000 is way better (cept it don't have bt all together) and the next high end lg is supposed to be even better than that

ya.. only first v710's that were released were able to transfer files.. my friend has one and a few months after he got one, verizon asked for the phone back to replace it, but he said NO.

i think the 60seconds is to save the battery, cuz it really drains it.
