1) make sure you have the latest release,

2) check that the checksum matches,

3) remove the old version before installing the new version unless the new version has "update" in its title.

remember:

- if a release has "update" in the title then it should be applied to the previos version, and adds to it.

- if a release does NOT have "update" in the title, its a full copy and its best to remove the old version first.

the reason for this is because the new version may have a different structure, or modules may have been removed or renamed and problems could arise if its not done.

Is all working on your computer now?

I still have the same problem... :(

Anyway, before asking for help, I tried all suggested actions and finally installed AutopatcherXP April (Eng) on a new pc, soon after windows installation, with no previous version of AP or any other ''utility'' installed, which might interfere with it and with last version of VB runtime, but there is no difference: at a certain time (sorry but I can't say when, because there is no info about) the message box appears and there is no way to continue...

PS: I use italian version on winXPsp2, but if I didn't misunderstand, AutoPatcherXP (eng/intl ver) can be installed anyway: it will be the program itself that will handle (when possible) the locale, or, at least, it should not go in error.

Thanks in advance.

What is the reason for installing VB runtime and was it the one that's in the directory of Autopatcher?

well thats most likely your problem.

AP itself will (or should) run on any system reguardless of language.

however the modules included in the english release are aimed at an english system.

I believe the 35601 error stems from when a parent module is missing (usually 2+ to get the error).

If the modules werent actually present in the release, everyone would get the error. i believe parents are just not being loaded because of the italian system, and therefore child modules are complaining.

The solution is to either 1) buy an english system, or more sensibly 2) get an italian copy of AP, which youll probably have to help translate yourself.

I think it might be helpful if we released two different versions for non english releases.

Both having the new installation files and such, however one with translated titles and descriptions, and one with english.

AP requires them to be installed in order for it to work.

Newer OS's come with them pre installed, but its worth a check.

Well, that's new for me. If you intstall Windows XP pro with SP2 then you don't need the VB run files. The most things that AutopatcherXP 2005 is offering is for XP.

About the Missing Element, it must be setting in a "module" I think that it has to do with the language ID, OS, or IE version. That's all included in the Module....

Yep, too much  seen that message on front of my screen. Was my mistake. :D

:ninja: Pascal B :ninja:

^^

exactly, with XPSP2 you wouldnt have to install them. however there is only one copy of AP available, not one for each OS as before with v4.6.

The files are there incase you use AP on a system that doesnt have them installed.

reguarding the 'missing element' error 35601, ive explained above its to do with the language settings of the modules vs the lang of the machines OS.

That's my problem too, I don't have an English version of Winxp.

What if i want to make a version of AP in another language?

Can i just do this with the error that is occuring on my system?

in this case, the error is not to do with missing files, but with parent modules not being loaded because there not for your language.

the error occurs because when loading the child modules of that parent, the parent is not present.

to fix the problem you need to either download a release in your own language, or translate it yourself.

the error will not cause a problem with the translating, as soon as you have set the language field in all modules to your own language, autopatcher will be able to load everything.

Thanks, im working on the Dutch AutoPatcher April 2005 Full Version now.

Yeah, that's correct, but the link is dead.

585877843[/snapback]

Now it's time to clear something. The link that's available here wasn't mines. This is a link to the first version off the Dutch version made by Raptor himself. This is the release of Jan'05. After downloading that one, I found out that it wasn't working. After trying and trying I decided to make a new version in Dutch.

The question is now; what should be included in the lite and /or full version? Example: the PowerToys are in English, not available in Dutch. A few persons want them included and others don't need English software installed.

That's why it's taking time, that was the part "the making of AutoPatcher".

Now the part of availability on the internet. The link is dead! It wasn't mines as I tolled earlier. The problem is that I need a link and diskspace for ever. Not just for fun neither for a little time. That's not my goal!!!!!!

At this moment I'm busy with a hosting provider to see if we can make an agreement for a free offer. That means no traffic limitation!!!

When you offer a service, you have to it right at once!

With this, I'll hope that the sun is shining and I cleared all.

    • Microsoft explains why Windows 10 users should upgrade to Windows 11 by Taras Buria Windows 10 reaches its end of support in four months, but not everyone is ready to move on. Some have unsupported hardware, some do not like its controversial parts, like the taskbar and Start menu, and others simply do not see a point. If you are one of those users who are unsure if they should leave Windows 10 behind, Microsoft has a list of reasons why Windows 11 is better and why you should upgrade. In the newly published blog post, Microsoft outlined several key features that make Windows 11 a better operating system, not just a poorly reskinned Windows 10, as some think. Microsoft quotes faster performance, simpler navigation, new features and experiences, and better security. Here are some of those reasons: Security: Making TPM 2.0 and implementing other security features like Smart App Control and VBS helped reduce security incidents. Microsoft claims "a reported 62% drop in security incidents and a 3x reported reduction in firmware attacks." Speed: Windows 11 features several Windows Update improvements that make update installation faster by up to 2.3 times than Windows 10. This is a pretty strong argument, considering how much people hate installing updates, especially on their PCs. Modernized user experience: Windows 11 has several productivity-boosting features like Snap Layouts, virtual desktop improvements, and more. Microsoft also mentions cleaner looks of the taskbar and Start menu, but we all know that those areas are the reason why many actually do not want to upgrade to Windows 11, even though some notable improvements are on the way. Accessibility improvements: This is legitimately a big reason to update if you rely on assistive technologies. Windows 11 is more accessible than its predecessor and features brand-new accessibility features like Voice Access, Focus Sessions for fewer distractions, Live Captions, Voice Typing, and more. You can check out an overview of all Windows 11 accessibility features here. New AI-powered features: Windows 11 has several exclusive AI features that are not available on Windows 10. They include Recall, Click to Do, AI-powered Windows Search, a Settings agent, Paint Cocreator, and more. However, these are only available on new devices, and you cannot get them when upgrading an existing PC from Windows 10 to 11. Still, some AI features work on all devices as well, such as the recently launched Copilot Vision. If those reasons are not enough, no worries. Microsoft lets users stay on Windows 10 even after the end of support. Today, Microsoft announced that the Extended Security Update program would be free for all customers. All you need to do is back up your PC settings in the Windows Backup app using your Microsoft Account (paid options are still present). You can learn more about that here. What about you? Do you think Windows 11 has enough solid reasons for you to switch and forget about Windows 10?
    • Without regulation, greed has no limits...If you go and post an ad on a billboard without permission, you'd be arrested for trespassing or vandalising private property, yet these companies keep doing it on our paid products scott-free. Be it "Smart" TVs, Phones in this case, displays/Tablets, Laptops, Desktops, etc. I'm eagerly waiting for the day the EU makes a regulation that requires these tech giants pay end users 50%+ for ANY form of further monetization on products users have paid for when that wasn't explicitly displayed on the product purchase page in normal 12pt sized font. Then and only then will all these nonsense "updates" introducing ads on our devices be put to an end.
