Help - Start up issue

I have noticed that when I start up my iMac G5 I get this image of the world. The only solution I have came across to get the OS started is to hold the 'alt' key which does something or rather but next start up, it happens all over again. I was wondering if anyone knows what the problem is, maybe I didn't install the OS (10.3.7) right?

Open the Startup Disk preference pane in System Preferences and make sure the partition you have your OS on is selected.
