lol, just wait till you graduate. they'll send you Emails, Phone calls, and Mail you requesting you to donate money to them! woot!

On a side note, Xbox 360 Roxors your boxors.

Replying to the side note: Yes it does :) I just hope it can play all of the X-Box games I want it to :)

Could I be so bold to as to ask if everyone things the Xbox 360 will win this round? The PS3 looks down for the count at the moment with the launch delay, losing developers/high costs + lack of screenshots to impress me.

Am I just getting mixed up in pre-launch hype?

Either two things will happen, I don't care which fanboy type I offend, because its the damn truth.

PS3 becomes to hard to develop for, developers get ****ed off with its high-end developer prices and complicated Cell chip, They leave and PS3 goes crash and burn because it can't survive on Sony's 3-4 good games per generation rule :) X-Box 360 Vs. Nintendo ensues (which is really the way I want it), better man wins.

X-Box 360 goes crash and burn due to being released too early, games aren't developed consistently enough, and it kinda becomes redundant a la Dreamcast. Great Console, but dead. PS3 Vs. Nintendo ensues, and its raw graphical power and much of the same Vs. X-Box 360 graphical power and innovation. Personally, I'd want Nintendo to win (I'm not a massive fan of Sony, and I'm a massive Nintendo fan at heart).

Of course...there is the potential 3rd option...which makes me sick to my stomach...and that's the media completely and utterly abondons Nintendo and its innovative ways, and sticks with the tried and true for a 3rd generation running, and the Revo becomes the Next-Generation Gamecube -- available, in-stock, but only just, and severely un-popular by media standards. Sony Vs. M$ happens, and hopefully Sony'll get pwned.

Personally, I think PS3 is gonna get knocked off the number 1 spot, and knowing Sony, as soon as they're not getting Number 1 fame, they're gonna disappear out of the market place (sore losers). While I love teh ph47 gfx of the PS3 (I felt a little giddy watching Vision Gran Turisimo demo, I was amazed, and even more amazed by Getaway 3), I have a nagging feeling its going downhill.

And screw this 'Market analyst crap', btw ;)

EDIT: Why is P1553d off banned? Its not even a swear word :/

EDIT2: So, the old swear word dodger trick works here, too :p

EDIT3: No, I'm not talking about using 1337 variations of words as a dodger ;)

Wow thanks for that in-depth look at the possibilities... Heh I sort of share your opinion on things, I think.

Ehh thanks but you could have told us what that link is about and such, instead of just blatantly advertising.

Oh, BTW, If Sony Vs. M$ happens...expect Innovation to come to virtually nil, and we'll see another Video Games Crash on our hands (at least console wise), due to the same **** being released day in, day out, on the same engine...practically same storyline...just different textures...but the worst thing is, It won't end, both companies have enough money to last forever :/

EDIT: That's neither Sony or M$'s fault FYI, its just thats the way the cookie crumbles. Two companies, going after the same hardcore audiences, releasing practically the same stuff. If that's all you have, its gonna get ugly by default :p

Actually Microsoft has more money on it's disposal, Sony owes a lot of money so if PS3, Blu-Ray or Cell does not fully take off they'll have some troubles.

X-Box 360 goes crash and burn due to being released too early, games aren't developed consistently enough

thats not fact that the xbox360 is too early, MS most likely know that the xbox couldnt beat the PS2, and the xbox was only plan to get a foot hold in the "consoles wars" with the big dogs. so they might have planed to make a 2nd console knowing the xbox couldnt win. just what i think?

Well, they say the X-Box was made as an advertising tool for the X-Box 360. But even if it is the one they've been prepring for, they could still f**k it up.

And, really, that's just a *possible* outcome, another outcome is that Microsoft owns the other 2 :p

Well Xbox was just used to penetrate the market for Microsoft and set their foot in the door. The 360 is whats going to make them be a big player in the market this time around, because they have learned their mistakes and implemented everything they know into this. The launch titles are very good, considering the limited time they have to work on them... And plus they could always somehow patch the games at a later date using the hard drive that more than 80% of the players have anyways.

I don't know what you're smoking Tjalian, but there will be no ______ VS. Nintendo.

Nintendo has done the most brilliant thing ever. Not compete.

It WILL BE Sony Vs. Microsoft and when the dust settles, Nintendo will make a profit.

THATS the way it's gonna be.

586678434

Yes, there will, even if its in-direct competition, or unwanted competition, its *still* competition.

Take the DS and PSP for example. Nintendo claims they're not competing. But hey! Guess what? They're still competing, even if its indirect (which it really isn't, whether Nintendo likes it or not).

EDIT: But really, whoever wins out of Microsoft and Sony (plz say m$ kthxu), they'll be in-drectly facing Nintendo. So you're partly right, I'm partly right. Simple as :p

Oh, and you're definately right about the profit thing ;)

I know MS will win, because no matter how powerful your console is, it dosn't justify a $500 or more pricetag. Not to mention that the 360 will have a little less than a year of sales on the PS3.

On the subject of DS vs. PSP, nintendo is right, they arent competing.

ds and psp choice is all about what you want as a gamer, the only thing they have in common is that they both play games, which one you chose is a sign of what you want out of a gaming system. Different but equal, know what I mean?

Also, Sony fears competion with Nintendo, thats why they keep trashtalking them.

Edit: And sony thinks that they're competing which just makes it worse.

They are both portable consoles and some people when they decide to buy a portable console has to choose which one suits him better.

Sony claims (amongst their many claims. Note: theyre not the only one with amazing claims) that their PS3 will be priced around the xbox 360 price mark. I think by the end of this month we will know for sure.

Edited by martinj

It wouldn't matter if the PS3 is magically priced the same as the 360 (it wont happen*) because by the time the PS3 comes out, there will be a price drop on the 360. Simple.

*It won't happen because the PS3 has cost Sony billions of billions of dollars to develop, simply because they are developing the Cell on their own. Microsoft can keep things cheap because they are using their partners IBM and ATI to make custom chips for them, which in the end is far cheaper than making it yourself.

PS3 is supposed to come out in Spring 2006, isn't it? Why would there be a price drop on the Xbox360 within 4-5 months of its release?

586681221

Well most likely to counter the launch of the PS3. I'm sure Microsoft will try something to distract attention from the PS3 launch, and that will most likely either be Halo 3 or a price drop (even if its only a slight one).

But on a completely different note, has anyone taken into consideration that the hard drive on the 360 is a laptop hard drive? I mean we all knew that but did anyone stop and think what that could mean? The first thing I realized was that the 360 will be able to be placed both horizontally as well as vertically. There is no doubt that the "ideal" position is vertical, as every 360 on display is vertical. But what about the hard drive? Isn't it a common known fact that if you place a laptop hard drive on its side while its reading/writing data, it significantly increases the risk of damage or decreases the life span on the drive?

I don't know, it's just been bothering me lately because the only position I can put it in my house is horizontal and I don't want to deal with dying hard drives. (My laptop drive died sooner than later because of this).

How do you know if its a Laptop Hard Drive? Wouldn't that make it completely against the idea of swapping HDDs whenever you chose, a feature M$ is trying to push with the 306?

And, to whoever I was debating with, Yes, I agree with you, I firmly believe they should not be competing. Its just, Sony's trying to compete with it whether anybody likes it or not. And scarily, a lot of the general user base also think they are competing. Hell, there are those who think the DS is still the new gameboy :/

I think that modern HD are less prone to that, and that they can run at 180, 90 and 45 degree angles perfectly. But don't quote me on it.

586682173

My hardrives are all mounted on there sides in my Antec P180 (and as they do in most computer cases now days)

    • A difficult position to be in. Either they cater to us users or they cater to news curators to potentially increase traffic. Personally, I wasn't being sarcastic. Hosting a website isn't free, so without traffic this site stops existing, and if you want traffic you have to play the game. I legitimately thought the title was good. Not because I like it, but because it's the kind of title people will click on. This site needs that.
