SUbaru STI vs Mitsubihi Ev0

Recommended Posts

Well, you can find a bunch of Subaru STi_2004 pics here:

And Mitsubishi Ev0, here is a reference:

Not so good. Could anyone offer a better site aboutEv0?

being someone who knows people who own both, and have ridden in both... STi for power, Evo for handling. both cars have incredible potential tho. Simple suspension upgrades on the STi will allow for better handling, and for better performance from the evo, do some minor engine work (ecu, turbo-back exhaust, blowoff valve, etc.) and you'd be able to take the Sti anyday.

also theres some drawbacks to an sti. it feels cheap inside. The headliner feels like its made out of cardboard, and just the fact that it doesn't come stock with a radio/speakers and the evo does.

also the evo looks nicer.

How on earth can you say STI for power? Has no one heard of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII FQ-400?

400. Yes 400 brake horse power from the same 2 litre turbocharged engine. That car, my friends, is a ferrari slayer so it really is an insult to compare it to the STI.

well sir... here in THE UNITED STATES << see where i'm posting from

the EVO only has 276 hp. thats the highest model evolution you can buy, period.

i'm only going on experience of what i've seen.

Ah I see... Well believe me if you can, import an FQ-400. Its quite the amazing car. Break your kneck acceleration. Handling as good as the rally car derivative.

And whats with "the EVO only has 276 hp". That is a fair amount of power. While we in the UK are treated to a 260 Bhp, 275, 280, 300, 320, 330, and 400 Bhp i didnt know you yanks didnt get the whole range.

what i meant to say was that i knew about the other versions of the evolution in the UK, but that the us only got the 276 hp version.

Through comprensive testing and riguourus tranigin most every professional article on this comparison has said just about the same thing.

When you compare the Subaru WRX sTI to the Mistubishi Lancer Evoloution it comes down to user and driver prefernace.

And Ill have to agree with them.

My best friends older brother has a 2004 sTI, and i personally drive an Evo VIII MR. We have both taken the oppertunity to drive each others cars and we are very pleased. If the other car had not been our personal favorite, we prolly would have bought each others.

Reviews generally say the STi is a better road car (the American version has a 2.5L engine), while the EVO is the better track car (doesn't suffer as badly from oversteer as the STi does). For every version worldwide, there's a respective competitor, except for the FQ400, which most people wouldn't even want to drive, not to mention it costs a lot of money.

In terms of reliability, I wouldn't trust Mitsubishi to build me a bicycle, let alone a high performance car. The STi, on the other hand, seems to be holding up well. The US model has a few 500+ hp versions of it out there, and some of the Jap spec cars have put down track times (the Spec C in particular) that are closer to Porsche's than Evos.

Lets say its a 2004 STI against a 2004 EVO VIII, and the reaction time was the same and the driver was the same for both cars, the STI would win in a 1/4 mile by 0.4 seconds. The downside of the evo is the acceleration because of its immense turbo lag. but once in high speeds, the evo is a good car. this is why the STI is considered the faster and more powerful car.

    • I need to understand the rationale of not shipping all of these K2 improvements in a single update/release. It's giving "we will fix Windows 11 but no commitments". It seems to me that they just announce these improvements just to appease the community.
