I live in Alabama. It's a fairly quiet neighborhood, but I grew up in Iowa, so I haven't really adapted to the lifestyle here.

Dude...you'll love it. I grew up in Birmingham and went to school in Auburn. I bet you won't complain about the weather, being from Iowa and all. You can still wear shorts all the way through October around here. :)

And nice car too. Can't beat a 10 year warranty. (Y)

Does Hyundai have a bad rep? Just out of curiousity. I haven't really heard anything negative about them, but I keep hearing stuff that's hinting towards a bad rep. Either way, it's got a 10 year warranty.

Haha, I hate ricers. It screws the car over. Especially those ones that make their own car club and then draw a sign for it on a piece of posterboard and put it in their windshield. Not the whole piece of posterboard, mind you, but the part that has writing on it. That's what someone at my school did, makes me so mad cause it's a 93 nissan something or another. Oh well.

I know that one or two of Hyundai's cars has been totally redesigned and is supposed to have excellent reliability. I wouldn't much trust the others until they've been refreshed. Of course, having a 10 year warranty pretty much takes care of that :)

Shameless plug, thinking of ricers with signs  :

Hyundai used to have a bad rep but they've really fixed things in the last few years. Only ignorant people still think Hyundais are crap, bad-quality cars.

Congrats on the purchase, great car for the price. Checkout Newtiburon.com to learn more info about it. They've been around for a while.

I know Hyundai got one of the best places in Consumer Reports. 1st place initial quality by J.D. Powers

Not bad cars at all. Especially for the price. Fully loaded, leather,V6 with a 6 speed, and 17's for 20K out the door. Cant beat the 10 year / 100K warranty.

No chance of it even being close to a 5.0 , I have driven too many of both , and currently drive a modded 96 cobra , and a 05 Hyundai, Sonata V6 sportstick.

Think about it, I know HP ratings are mostly rectal smoke even a stock 5.0 ( depending on year ) makes between 215 and 235. The Tib. ( Tuscany in korea ) makes around 170. Both cars are within 300 lbs. Do the math, its physics. Sorry....

Thing-

People PLEASE stop reading Consumer Reports.. They are ignorant and are paid out the wazoo spewing out a lot of false info.. There is no way possible you could beat a 5.0 Mustang with a stock Tib. The Mustang has more HP and a lot more Torque and being OHV it had power right from the line. You just had a case of an idiot driver....

What's that got to do with Consumer Reports? Consumer Reports doesn't give you information on which cars could beat the other in a street race. It's for adults I guess you could say, not hot head teeny-boppers that think that every car that they get in has to be faster than thier idiot friend's car. Consumer Reports gives more useful information like reliability and maintenance reports etc.

Grow up dude...

Consumer reports is paid by companies to give favorable reviews to products that clearly do not deserve it.. I said nothing about racing when mentioning consumer reports and the magazine isn't for adults its for sheep who think toyota still makes the best cars on the road..

The Nissan Titan is the biggest example.. It is in no way shape or form better than the new F-150 which has been the best selling vehicle in the world for the past 25 years. Look what best picks they chose.. Just about every average middle of the pack toyota was picked. Can you say bought? There are more reliable vehicles that are much better values. You would be pretty ignorant to pick a Corolla over a Mazda 3. How can you pick a Honda CRV over the Chevy Equinox? People are stupid to base an entire car purchase on one biased magazine. Shop around look at reviews from people around the net. Go test the vehicles for yourself make your own judgement..

American made cars are falling further and further behind the quality of the other big names like Honda, Toyota and Nissan...sales numbers for Toyota's aren't where they are for no reason. Think about it. (Y)

Now go back to drooling over your lame mustang or whatever American made POS you own. :D

And you drive a what ???

Ever notice how many Mustangs there are on the road, where are you getting your sales facts from ?

I drive a mustang on the street and on track in club events.

FEW if any other cars , can come close to raceable on a budget like a mustang.

With just a tire and pad change they are quite competent autocross cars, especially the 99+. Many of us have rented V6 mustangs and autocrossed them. With luck and TONS of fun.

And I wont go into what a 25K dollar '03 Cobra mustang ( 390 conservative supercharged horse ) will do to any high end jap / euro cars, at a fraction the price.

And for a few grand more, Kenne Bell makes a nice blower updrade, for over 600hp on pump gas. Not bad for a POS....

I am not talking about race cars either. My car is 100% street, passes smog every year. It has some money in the suspension , but so what. No, Toyota has nothing in the mustangs class, they DID, it was called the Supra. ( At least HP wise ) However, a 320 HP car that is 50K dollars it hard to justify. In the midst of 335 HP Camaros and 315hp pre 03 cobras. ( Yes the supras been gone a long time ) I weep. I wish I could have any 94+ TT Supra. Not an easy find.

Im not by any means, bashing japanese cars, I love my wankles, I just feel there will always be a place for the American auto. No matter how good ( Saleen S7 ) or how bad ( Edsel ).

It's hard to build a quality car, cheaply , and pay the Union auto workers , 60+ dollars an hr to take coffee breaks. ( Prepares to get bashed by UAW )

This is the top 10 most sold vehicles in the US. for 03

1. Ford F-Series (includes F-150, F-150 Heritage, F-150 SVT Lightning, F-250 and F-350) — 845,586

2. Chevrolet Silverado (includes 1500, 1500 SS, 2500, 2500HD and 3500) — 684,302

3. Dodge Ram (includes 1500, 1500 SRT-10, 2500 and 3500) — 449,371

4. Toyota Camry and Camry Solara — 413,296

5. Honda Accord — 397,750

6. Ford Explorer and Explorer Sport Trac — 373,118

7. Ford Taurus — 300,496

8. Honda Civic — 299,672

9. Chevrolet Impala — 267,882

10. Chevrolet TrailBlazer and TrailBlazer EXT — 261,334

And this is 04, sorry, different sources.

• Ford F-Series 432,969 $19,920

• Chevrolet Silverado 322,907 $19,485

• Dodge Ram pickup 223,609 $20,365

• Toyota Camry 213,625 $19,560

• Honda Accord 192,106 $16,390

• Ford Explorer 168,059 $23,690

• Honda Civic 162,483 $13,500

• Ford Taurus 144,035 $20,320

• Chevrolet Impala 139,460 $22,395

• Dodge Caravan 131,367 $18,995

No sales numbers dont lie.

And none of the top 3 are jap , SO WHAT ? Does that mean they suck ? Hardly.

Just because we get spammed by hundreds of thousands of japanese cars off the boats that needs to be sold no matter what.....

I will BET that the japanese also MAKE many times the cars americans do....

The ratio puts it into perspective. Cars are no longer supply demand. They sit by the thousands on lots everywhere.

Obviously you can sell mmore, if you make more.

Morf, go for a ride in a top of the line Sonata or XG350.

You get ALOT of car , for the money. We are on our 2nd Sonata, a 02 and the 05, and have had NO issues what so ever with either. I mean nothing at all. ( Other then the factory Michelins seen to like nails ).

I am not a cheap guy , have a good job and family. I just see no reason to spend so much more, and gain nothing gut a name.

10year 100K mile bumper to bumper. 6 airbags. Best in class saftey ratings. Decent specs, V6 , 4 speed autostick , leather everything, 4w disks, Abs, projectors,

so on.

I will buy another sonata. the 06 will be 230+ hp.

sorry to bring you down dude.... but.... Hyundais are cheap, low quality cars (IMO)

I do admit that it looks really sweet, but it's all plastic (sorry)

you've obviously been living in a box. tiburons are anything but cheap. other hyundai cars may be, only slightly, but definitely not tiburons.

caked, stick a short throw shifter in it (if it isn't already short enough) with some rims and you're good to go...maybe exhaust. just don't go fartcan rice.

yeah, all good on the outside. hat about under the hood?

what about the body it self? what if another car hits me? Total lost or what?

and I said, it looks REALLYSWEEET - but the body is all plastic

Far from it, 6 air bags, crumple zones, and best in class saftey ratings.

Its not a 1970 Cutlass that will drive away from a train hit. But nothing is , nor should it be.

Under the hood if its a V6 , it will be a 2.7L 24 valve with variable timing.

Not a light car though.

why don't you take your prejudices and shove it. seriously, take some time and read what other people have said next time. maybe doing your own research would be nice too. who the hell makes cars out of plastic?....besides saturn and they aren't even all plastic.

    • Can confirm, I've built stuff for others and no complaints using their products.
    • Yes I agree, it's annoying. You can now miss tabs unless you point low enough.
