You are incredibly ignorant. My dad was t-boned by a lady into his 2000 Elantra, right in the driver side door, the outside was crushed but the inside didnt move AN INCH. He was perfectly fine, the door didnt give at all.

Please be informed before posting nonsense.

Glad all are OK from that accident. Not everybody is fortunate enough to have safe cars.

Wanted to put this up from earlier.

Under 50K original miles, she sits in the garage, and has been promised to my daughter. Not a bad looking car, eh ?

How old is you daughter? I'm hoping your not giving that to a teenager.

That has been promised to an 8yo little girl.

She can have it , when she can show me she can drive it.

She will be tought control and chassis dynamics right, and hopefully will have skills.

Its only about 400 hp.( Very mild VT cams, head work , bolt ons , 4.10 rear end, and a 6 speed ) But its close to a .95g car.

And before its asked, it has never and will never be down a dragstrip.

I hit a guy in a 2004 Elantra in the side because he ran the light.. I was going about 30 mph and demolished his car. It crumbled like a paper cup.. The door was pushed in to the point the passenger was injured badly. The police officer said the car did VERY poor in the crash. Not only that the airbags didn't even go off gotta love all those safety features! My car was still running and driveable after the wreck.. they were rushed to the hospital...

Airbag deployment has many factors. They will not always go off, nor should they.

That car has government standard side impact beams. However it is still a tiny car. Crumpled ? Yes, thats EXACTLY what it was supposed to do. Thats what absorbs energy, so it wont be transmitted into the occupants. They are called crumple zones for a reason.....

A 30 mph t bone is very nasty, even with the best saftey equipment, its a violent crash. Police are not trained to tell how cars do in an accident, as they assume crushed = bad.

And yes, they went to the hospital , because of the nature of a t-bone. And the way it makes the brain behave inside the skull.

Look at Dale Ernhardt's crash. Watching it , it looked like a very mild crash. Yet it killed him. And look,. no crush.

Its crash test numbers are very good. Vastly better then the MAJORITY of cars 10-15 years or older.

Thats better. Also it sounds like your not going to make it her first car so that is good to. Make her drive a big car with a small engine and if she doesn't ever have a small accident or speed, and after a few trips to the parking lot with cones, she should be in pretty good shape. :)

She is already learning in go-karts. Learning proper line, braking and throttle points.

She will probably never race a car, but it will be nice knowing she knows whats shes doing on the street.

I wish these parents that want to buy there kids a Evo or Sti would pull there heads outta there asses , and send them to a driving school first.

Hyundai used to have a bad rep but they've really fixed things in the last few years. Only ignorant people still think Hyundais are crap, bad-quality cars.

Congrats on the purchase, great car for the price. Checkout Newtiburon.com to learn more info about it. They've been around for a while.

I know Hyundai got one of the best places in Consumer Reports. 1st place initial quality by J.D. Powers

not all their models are great.. their Elantra = crap.. the noise level above 65MPH is incrediably loud and the car vibrates a lot.. things easily fall off, very cheap car.

And none of the top 3 are jap , SO WHAT ? Does that mean they suck ? Hardly.

Just because we get spammed by hundreds of thousands of japanese cars off the boats that needs to be sold no matter what.....

I will BET that the japanese also MAKE many times the cars americans do....

The ratio puts it into perspective.  Cars are no longer supply demand. They sit by the thousands on lots everywhere.

Obviously you can sell mmore, if you make more.

Morf,  go for a ride in a  top of the line Sonata or XG350.

You get ALOT of car , for the money. We are on our 2nd Sonata, a 02 and the 05, and have had NO issues what so ever with either. I mean nothing at all. ( Other then the factory Michelins seen to like nails ).

I am not a cheap guy , have a good job and family. I just see no reason to spend so much more, and gain nothing gut a name.

10year 100K mile bumper to bumper. 6 airbags. Best in class saftey ratings.  Decent specs, V6 , 4 speed autostick , leather everything, 4w disks, Abs, projectors,

so on.

I will buy another sonata. the 06 will be 230+ hp.

585845465[/snapback]

the 100,000 mile warrenty is not bumper to bumper, thats the power train warrenty (engine, transmission, axel) the bumper to bumper is 60,000 miles.

my dad did the same for me, taught me how to drive stick when i was 9 and drove by myself for the first time when i was 11 in the neighborhood, and drove 100 miles nonstop when i was 13 in a manual Fiat Turbo Diesel car... we also went to speed zone a lot.

Go drive an elantra. There is no vibration and they are not loud. Test drive one.

You are correct about the warranty, kind of. Thats the base warranty, myself and most otehr Hyundai owners are automatically upgraded at the dealer to a bumper to bumper. It was thrown in with the negotiations for the car. ( we have an 05 Sonata LX and had an 02 before it) Both got the Full bumper-Bumper.

Cheers to your dad, it was done right.

i was riding in an 04 Elantra, i never ever ever want to be seen riding on that piece of crap.

I am not talking about race cars either. My car is 100% street, passes smog every year. It has some money in the suspension , but so what. No, Toyota has nothing in the mustangs class, they DID, it was called the Supra. ( At least HP wise ) However, a 320 HP car that is  50K dollars  it hard to justify. In the midst of 335 HP Camaros and 315hp pre 03 cobras. ( Yes the supras been gone a long time ) I weep.  I wish I could have any 94+ TT Supra. Not an easy find.

Im not by any means, bashing japanese cars, I love my wankles, I just feel there will always be a place for the American auto. No matter how good ( Saleen S7 ) or how bad ( Edsel ).

It's hard to build a quality car, cheaply , and pay the Union auto workers , 60+ dollars an hr to take coffee breaks.  ( Prepares to get bashed by UAW )

    • I don’t get why if I bought the game on the last get I needed to pay $40 to upgrade to the new version in the first place and people who love the game and play a lot would have upgraded already so this is just PR and a chance to grab new players who forgot the game long time ago I think
    • The term "use" is doing a lot of heavy lifting in that headline. "Use" can mean opening ChatGPT occasionally to ask for the definition of a word or information about a specific topic. If you frame the question around how many people use it as a daily driver in their work or personal lives, that number is a lot smaller. Those are the people who pay for AI. Nearly everyone else is happy to use it for free, but doesn't see enough value in it to pay for it.
    • No support for Windows Hello!
    • I think you meant the "ntfs3" driver, but yes there have been a lot of fixes for it in this release and previous releases, not 100% sure if the issue you mentioned is fixed though. In any case, the new "ntfs" driver in 7.1 doesn't have that issue (at least, no reports of such have come thru), but your kernel needs to explicitly enable support for the new driver first (like how CachyOS kernel has it), and you need to edit your mount points in /etc/fstab to use "ntfs" instead of the other drivers.
    • Epic Games says Unreal Engine 6 will help developers "build content faster" using AI models by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Epic Games is rolling out the latest major update to Unreal Engine 5 today, and at the same time, the company also dropped some information on the next-generation version of the product, Unreal Engine 6. This was already revealed a few weeks ago alongside the new Rocket League upgrade reveal. The company says it is combining the features of Unreal Engine and Unreal Editor for Fortnite to create this new version of its popular media creation tool. On top of creating entire games, the new engine will also focus on letting developers operate large-scale live service titles more easily, whether by shipping content into their own ecosystems or into Fortnite. The use of large language models is also mentioned here, with Epic saying it will be a core part of the engine. "We see LLMs, generative AI models, and tools like Claude and Codex playing a central role in helping you build content faster while maintaining the creative control you need," adds the company. Here is the rundown of what's new about version 6 of Unreal Engine: With all these changes to the programming model, portability upgrades, and generative AI integration, Epic says the new version of the engine will "change a lot about how games are made." The company aims to ship Unreal Engine 6 into early access in late 2027, with a full release planned for 12-18 months later. Epic Games also dropped a lengthy blog post about the new Unreal Engine 5.8 update for game developers over here. The release is focused on delivering better performance, customization, and streamlined workflows for development teams. This will be the final major update for this version of the engine before Epic switches to focus fully on Unreal Engine 6's early access launch.
