iPod Shuffle Question

Recommended Posts

I'm thinking about buying an iPod Shuffle. Just wondering before I buy one if Apple plans to release a newer iPod Shuffle with more space or features in the near future? I don't want to buy it and then a month later find out I could've bought a newer Shuffle with better specs for the same amount of money. Thanks.

The only thing I can think of that they would do is make it smaller, and include a radio (which they wont)

I don't think that they could physically make it any smaller, and your right, apple would never want to put a radio tuner in any of their players.

um, it is flash memory.

Off topic here, but welcome to neowin. As a future suggestion there is a button after each post that says "quote" so you can reply to multiple posts at once instead of responding to each individually.

I dont see them releasing another version of the shuffle in the near future.

They can make the iPod Shuffle smaller by integrating the USB port with the headphone jack (see Mpio fl300). The USB plug makes up for about 1/5 the shuffle's height, getting rid of it will help keep the size/weight down. Also, without a standard USB port, there is no need for a cap; further reducing the size.

They can also make it smaller by manufacturing everything on one circuitboard instead of 2. I think that they do this because they are manufactured in different places to save money. If Apple makes the worksmanship on the Shuffle better, it will attract more buyers.

As for the radio, Apple might decide to have integrated wifi, so that you can stream your music from iTunes. This is good, as it doesn't compete with the Apple music store, yet still allows the consumer to enjoy countless songs.

yea, wifi is much different than an fm tuner. Its moving ahead instead of backwards. I could see them doing that, but just not in the very near future. I also think that we're more likely to see a 5G full-size ipod before a 2G shuffle.

    • I'm not aware of this issue, but to help the other guys.  What version of Android are you using? Did you try a different browser? To see if Edge is the issue here.
    • I agree when are you going to read this (really poor BTW) article? Here is a better article so you actually know what is going on and answers questions you had in other comments --> https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2026/05/speed-boosting-low-latency-profile-is-one-of-the-improvements-coming-to-windows-11/ It is unclear if one will be able to disable the new profile at this point but I am not seeing any reason why one would.
    • I disagree; they come off very "bitchy" and "whiny". Make a great product and combine that with a great price (free) and people will come over to your side. Or build it and they will come as they say. Constantly trying to get attention by complaining all the time, will turn people off to your product.
    • It use to be a nightmare, with LibreOffice supporting a newer draft ODF standard by default, and Microsoft Office supporting the older non-draft standard. Now that they both support the same version of ODF, they should be interoperable.
