Ugh i absolutely cannot wait for this game. I highly suggest everyone to go to http://www.stalker-game.com/ and take a look at the game and read up on the info regarding it. IT will really pump you up for it.

And then you have a bigger chance of being dissapointed when the game comes out!

weeee....!!1

I got a couple of screenshots that are 1600x1200, though I'm not sure of the AA and AF. In fact, I don't think GSC have EVER released a screenshot using AA. Hopefully it's just that they haven't bothered, not an engine limitation.

... That doesen't look good :x

Some more DirectX9 shots are turning up, even more will be seen at E3.

These are believed to come also from Russian Magazine Igromania, specifically captured from a Dx9 trailer that came on the cover disc (hence the quality/size of these pictures).

They can all be found HERE, though there are one or two images that I have to attach here.

Cool images are the internet's way of saying that Chode was right

Thanks Chode, looking awesome. This looks like the best fps since system shock 2.

That rust looks amazing, it's nice to see developers not making everything as shiny as possible. I think the trees look awesome btw, they may not be technically superior to other games but they have a organic/real look to them, and as you said, will look even better in the wind.

The texturing is what I think is lacking. There isn't enough bump mapping going on. Like those parralax bricks, they look awesome. But everthing else looks a little bit too... flat and low res. with the textures. I think if the made the surfaces look better, it would make things much nicer. The environments look awesome! And this game will really bring new real world environments and interaction. HL2 just felt too enclosed, lifeless, and damn those load points! This looks much more realistic if they can get those aforementioned textures looking better. I mean- fix the gun and hand at least if we are going to look at them throughout the game! They look horribly flat and blocky like they came out of a saturday morning cartoon.

yes but with HL2 it was ridiculous... btw, the shots of the city Pripyat are insane. I wouldn't want to go to such a radioactive area though to take pictures and stroll! I suggest anyone who doesn't appreciate these screenshots should go shoot themselves in the foot. Why don't some of you try and model a decent looking tree, or car, or anything you see in those shots? Then try making an entire game the same way... it's been many years in development, and you can't expect the millions that were put into HL2 from the HL franchise stockpile in a game like this.

Anybody skeptical should visit those screenshots. I don't know some of them are old, but they definately are higher res and make the game look great. I still think the texturing isn't great in some places, but could Chode clarify if the game has been seen in HDR yet?

Also, if the game will come 64 bit, what will be the improvements for a x86-64 processor?

This game doesn't even look that great anymore...

Probably true, but does that matter? The graphics get the job done, and the game has a visual style that suits the overall atmosphere quite nicely. As long as the gameplay is good - which it certainly should be, considering how long the game has been in development.

I really don't like the look of the screenshots, but hopefully the gameplay will make up for that - I only hope they don't overreach themselves and mess it up, as that has happened all too often in the past.

eeeh.... i'm not really looking forward to it. the trees don't look THAT organic. like the pine tree off to the left of the truck in the one screenshot.... looks like they just took a 2d design of what pine tree branches would look like, smashed the middle in to make it look like a dome, and smacked it onto the tree. And the comparison pictures that make it look "lifelike".... yeah....... they want it to look so real, but they have the crane off by about 30 yards.

I can't think of any specific references off the top of my head, but if I remember correctly there will be HDR in the Dx9 Engine....though if it's NVIDIA exclusive is yet to be seen.

GSC also have a hardware partnership with AMD, there is planned an exclusive 64 bit version.

anyone got a deacent english link for a good review of this game cos shame on me this is the first i have heard of it.

Oblivion-Lost.com (both English and German). This site is THE news site for STALKER. It has links to reviews, game features, hands-on-impressions, media, and even their own forums.

Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god....the crane is off by 30 yards. I'm never buying a game by GSC again!!!!1111

Seriously, that is the stupidest criticism I have ever heard.

That is just one photo from a non-related website.

the screenshot is from a different angle with different visuals present.

I bet chode just did a google search for http://images.google.co.uk/images?svnum=20...byl&btnG=Search

and then stuck them both together.

Good work on being such a good critic (Y)

    • This is weird. Mythos is more unrestricted compared to Fable. Technically it poses more risk!!
    • This is a great thing, I always have issues with Verizon while inside of certain football stadiums due to the saturation and walls blocking signal so a LOS way to connect would be great. Verizon was supposed to be offering sat data this year but I've not heard a word of it lately. Dude is sending rockets into space in a cheap manner, low waste foot print and has a great product with solar/battery tech. We would be so far behind China right now if not for him and a push to get back into space.
    • illegally? Proof of that? Seems you are posting misinformation or well a pure straight up lie cause there is zero proof of such a thing. But I get it...
