azanoncello
You know when you have stuffit expander and you double click on a .sit file it just expands to where you had the file originally. I have stuffit deluxe and I want it to do the same thing. Every time I double click a file it opens stuff it deluxe and I have to expand it manually. I believe it used to auto expand before I formatted. I just want to be able to double click on my sit files and then they will expand to the same folder. I hear that its not possible to do in ver. 9 and so thats why I have ver.8 If anyone could let me know what settings I need to have in order to do this it would be greatly appreciated. PureLogic
Right click on a .sit file or whatever the format is, choose "Get Info", select Stuffit Expander under "Open With" and click "Change All...". This is an option that Mac OS X provides, it has nothing to do with the Stuffit Deluxe version installed. See pic for example, using Stuffit Deluxe 9.0.2. You can also just right/ctrl-click an archive and in the contexual menu goto StuffIt > Expand 585879891 Your way doesn't do that. It does if you press the option key after right clicking. That way the "Open with" option in the contextual menu will change to "Always Open With". PureLogic
Unless you have Stuffit Deluxe installed. Then his way is activated. 585880735 I just tried it and it stays on Stuffit Deluxe.app when only selecting "Open With". The "Always Open With" thing only seems to apply to the file(s) selected. DirtyLarry Veteran Posted May 6, 2005 Veteran Share Posted May 6, 2005 edit, nevermind, I found the link I was looking for in another post in this forum... Since when have you had to give a credit card for the deluxe version???? http://simsub.digitalriver.com/cgi-bin/stuffit-download Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/316925-stuffit-options/#findComment-585881093 Share on other sites
Huy
StuffIt does not come with Tiger. StuffIt Expander came with Panther, not the Deluxe version. OS X has never included the Deluxe, only Expander (until Tiger). StuffIt 9.0.1 (upgradable to 9.0.2.) is compatible with Tiger. It's not permanent like your method, but it's just as easy as double-clicking.
