symantec corp or mcafee enterprise ?

hi guys i finally got my server up and running and was wondering which virusscan is the best to use for enterprise ? i have a choice between mcafee enterprise v8 or symantec corp 9. Has anyone had any good or bad experiences with either virusscan ?

McAfee, updates daily, lighter on resources than Symantec 10, has some features not found in Symantec like buffer overflow protection, and it has built in basic firewall.

I personaly would look at getting Sophos. Firstly you start with the AV, it can then be expanded to include Pure Message.

On my Exchange 2003 I haveSybari Antigen. It uses Sophos, McAfee and a few others for updates. It can also be used on clients.

SAV 10 with a Barracuda System if you want throw in a WatchGuard Firewall. nothing gets in or out with out you knowing :devil:

My input is that Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition 10 needs some work. Version 9 is rock solid. The management tools are all integrated, and makes installing those tools and managing clients easier.

I'm using McAffee because my university offers it free; but I do remember Symantec's corporate product as faster and slimmer than what McAffee offers.

Sad to here Symantec 10 is no longer slim.

McAfee's update engine is better ... and it checks important files if they are still working. If not, they get replaced... IT'S TRUE, I SAW IT! :woot:

I tried Symantec 10 on my XP desktop. It ran over 100megs of memory with it's on-demand scanner, ouch.

I thought VirusScan Enterprise 8 was high on resources (around 30-40megs).

I have used Norton a few times and it was all right. the deployment of clients was easy and the the server installation was simple. I hav enot tried McAfee. We use Trendmicro products.
