I want to explore OS X Tiger without spending a fortune. Unfortunately, the cheapest mac I could buy would be a $600.00 CAD mac mini ( no add-ons, just bare-bones minimum ). The price tag hardly convinces me to pursue my curiosity further. Is there any way I can "experience" apple without paying up-wards of $600.00?

yer, go to an Apple store and try one out. or install PearPC on your Windows/Linux computer and buy a copy of Tiger.

I suggest going to an Apple store and spending an hour there on one of there Mac's try out the search the way things are laid out the speed open loads of applications at once do all kinds of things to really feel the Mac out and remember they all have Internet access, check ya email surf the web, you might come away loving it or hating it.

wait a few more months til xbox 2.. i mean "360" comes out, and if im not mistaken its going to be running G5 processors(or somthing simillar.. thats what ive heard), and in that case within a month there will be a hack to get Tiger working on it, then ya got a xbox "360" and a tiger box :D

They are running PowerPC processors, the core of the G5. They are NOT running G5s. There is a significant number of differences between the two chips.

That's like saying Darwin is OS X.

Ok that is probably the most ridiculous thing I have heard this week. They might be running the same architecture but the xbox will never ever run OS X. It is impossible to say the least and really it would take too much time to explain.

ebay is probably your best place to get one.  I was going to tell you that you should apply for the credit card offering that Apple is doing, but its only for US.

i applied for that its taking forever to get a reply for my apple credit card. it should have been instant since i have a really good credit history.

Never say never. People used to say that it would never be possible to emulate a PowerPC Mac on the PC, but it happened (people have even managed to boot PearPC on a modified XBox running Linux). Just think what people could do with something much closer to the native architecture.

    • I disagree; they come off very "bitchy" and "whiny". Make a great product and combine that with a great price (free) and people will come over to your side. Or build it and they will come as they say. Constantly trying to get attention by complaining all the time, will turn people off to your product.
    • It use to be a nightmare, with LibreOffice supporting a newer draft ODF standard by default, and Microsoft Office supporting the older non-draft standard. Now that they both support the same version of ODF, they should be interoperable.

    • Hi. As the title suggests, I can't access the forum on my phone. I'm using Edge on Android and when I try to navigate to the forum I get a "we value your privacy" popup and none of the buttons are clickable. It effectively stonewalls me from reading any forum content.
    • Honestly you're not wrong about AdGuard. Neowin frequently has lifetime license discounts for them and that's how I got my cheap family license a few years ago to run it on all my devices.
