Doing this type of stuff has pushed me away from using Edge even if I otherwise would've because it tells me Microsoft themselves don't trust the value provided to stand on its own. If Microsoft truly believed in the superiority of their offering, they wouldn't feel pressured to rely on cheap gimmicks and lock-ins to get people to use it. The more companies do this type of stuff, including making it difficult to cancel, the less I feel inclined to use their product because if they can't rely on the product itself for their needs, I shouldn't either.
