My car, I miss my car...

Recommended Posts

 I absolutelly love my car... It is my pride and joy, I used to drive a pos 1987 Chrysler Fifth, my dad got it for me for like 800 bucks from a work buddy. It was in really superb condition, the leather seats were great, and I never thought I would drive anything else. I like it, I pretty much forced my self to love the car...

Basically I was DIEING inside for a sports car. lol, My dad's a BIG CAR GUY, I learned from him, I love cars as much as he does. We've never really had oodles of money to buy sports cars. He had a few cool cars years ago but with a wife and 4 kids money for coolness doesn't happen. He'll get himself something sool soon, he's been die-hard looking at some MGB's so he may get one of em. I've pretty much wanted a sports car my whole life, well actually I want ALL sports cars... lol. So far that hasn't much happened. (definatelly manual, I've wanted to drive a manual since Gran Turismo, lol, and NFS ohhh great car games...)

A few months ago my car started acting crazy, it died like 3 times on uber busy streets where i was stuck in the middle of the road with cars zipping past me, bad situations. One time it died on the highway, but i got it working again and got home, It was stalling all the damn way. I got home, got out of de car, and next morning got in, and turned the key and NOTHING, nothing happend, no sparking, no rumble, I checked everything, nothing was unplugged, halffull tank, it just refused to turn on.

That weekend we just randomly went lookin for cars, and we stumbled across this amazing car...

I remember the moment exactly, we're in the old minivan ('95 windstar - 200,000+miles, lol), we made this a family outing, dad and mom in front, me(21) and my younger sister(17) in the middle seats. We pull into this side street because there's a little shotty(sorta) car dealership there, with some cars. Imediatelly I see some cars, ex; 90's Firebird, some big merc, a random bmw... and, AND wait, "WAIT whats that!??!??! (**as my dad drives past**) Hey! Was that an old Jaguar, what and e-type?" I'm saying, I look again out of the corner of my eye, and it's definatelly not a Jaguar. I've been so used to driving ****ty cars I've comepletelly forgotten my Jap cars.

Anyway, I get my dad to drive back over there, actually park, and with the help of my mother we actually get to GET OUT AND LOOK!!! weeehooo! I may actually get to LOOK at the car, let alone buy it haha.

Well, before the reveal, I'll give a little car history of my family, lol.

years ago be fore any of the kids could drive, and once all 4 of us were born the cars were: 1987 Dodge RAM (van), and some 80's Chevy Malibu, about to die. It ended up siting in our driveway and never moving ever, ever again, it sat and rusted forever, and it was tow'd to the junk yard haha. Anyway, years later in 95' my dad got my mom a Ford Windstar (worst Idea ever conceived by my dad, not many of those) it was also a demo car, also a bad idea... IT's head gaskets blew just a bit after 100,000 miles, just over warranty, and you guessed it Ford wouldn't pay, ahah, yeah. Anyway well, time goes on, oldersisters get cars and smash them and so on. Eventually I start driving, I leaned on the windstar ugh... I drove the Van alot, loved it, then got in an accident (it lived on for a real good while and still is, somewhere, we ga :D ve it away, and miss it, indefinatelly). This accident has tied me to no good car forever because I can't have insurance, so I get a friggen clunker.... boo. as time goes on my younger sister can now drive... boo again, haha, well she's actually a good driver lol. But anyway, my dad, recently has been buying cars for siblings like hell. He got my mom a brand new 2004 Honda Accord $24,000... and both my older stisters, somewhere along the line got pretty decent cars, around $6,000 to $8,000 values. Then my YOUNGER sister a 2000 Toyota Camry XLE for $10,000 from my girlfriend's fam. now xgirlfriend, stay away from the rich/brat/biches with the 2002 BMW X5's even tho they are amazing cars... :ninja: So the issue here is that their cars cost like $10,000 and mine, what? $800? slakjdhsdfgkjlhdfgkjlhsd.

Finally, I had something to be proud of.

The car... ended up being a 1984 Mazda RX-7, :D it's beatiful... and the rest is history. (oh and I don't miss my old car one bit, or it's seats....)

 here's my baby:

Here's my gallery <--- I just fixed the link so you can see all the pics now :)

Now here's the problem...

So everything is great, but I am currently now, by rule of doctor not allowed to drive at the moment.

4 years ago my lung collapsed and naturally healed itself, and did so again last week, but i had surgery this time, and was in the hospital for a week. So I am seriously itching to hop in my beautious car... oooh please please.... The big problem is that I am pretty much in house arrest for the next two weeks of torture. I'm feeling alright, but thats with the pain meds, ugh, withouth them I have a seriously uncomfortable left side. I can't hop in for a drive with a clear consionce while on the pain meds, so I think I'm gonna wait till one day when I'm feeling alright enough off meds, and my mom's off somehwere. hehe.

Well I shared a hell of a lot more than I planed, but hey, I'm stuck in my damn house, with nothing else to do, lol.

nice car. i wouldnt buy one though. i like jap crap cars but still u cant go wrong with a muscle car. V8's and V10s all the way for me. i love high torque.

it sounds like on your old car that the distributor is rooted, that or you got a crack in your head

no good on your lung mate. lucky u got 2

Got quite enough torque on this baby, it's a rotary engine, not a sisy 4i or nothing. hehe

Nope it wasn't the drisributor, we had AAA come to pick it up and take it to the mechanic, and he got in to put it in nutral, and the damn thing started right up, it made no sense. We had the mech. look at it, he went through the whole damn thing, he found nothing, just repleaced one of the battery connectors, and we ended up trading it in to the mech who was selling my rx-7, so it's gone haha.

And with my lung, well actualy only one lunbg doesn't do you any good, unless you're like 7 foot. The surgery fixed it up and there's a 95% chance it'll never collpse again (spontaneously anyway). So I'm all fixed up I'm just not allowed ta drive for 2 weeks ahh.

umm...you're lucky JUST the head gasket blew at 100,000 miles. Usually ford vehicles die completely there. Head gaskets cost very very little and are easy to replace.

anyways, congrats on the car, I love rx-7's

yeah but they killed the engine, we had to replace the whole block haha, we paid for it too.

yes, meeee too love em love em lovem haha.

only one week left :D

been lookin round on the net and found some part sites, and I may be getting some cool stuff for ma car this summer, he he he.

getting body parts here: http://www.mariahmotorsports.com/

and if i can afford it I may get something like this: http://www.mariahmotorsports.com/modeone_special.htm

Yes, I love RX7's.. too bad the rotary engines seem to fail @ around 100,000 miles.

The twin-turbo version is still one of the fastest production cars out there.

How much did you pay for it? I feel like getting an old RX-7, Supra or 300ZX :D

585921321

It was overpriced, but for a good reason, anyhow it was like 3,300 I think.

lol, key word was "old" Jaguar. look up the old e-type, I saw it out of the corner of my eye, first time I saw it, so I didn't really have much time to figure out what it was.

585925422

i know how e-type looks...its one of my fav jaguars in fact. could recognize it anywhere

that xj220 i sweet, but loud and has bad handling :p

btw congrats on getting RX7.

Yeah... my dad used to own a '93 RX-7... red...fast.... SO PRETTY!!!!

He picked me up from 100 Mile House and drove back home to Vancouver (British Columbia) in 4 hours, including a stop for breakfast and gas. All of this was at about 7 in the morning, so there were no cars on the road. He ended up selling it though. The dealership sold it to a 18 year old kid, who wrapped it around a telephone pole 2 weeks later.

Take care of that thing for gosh sake!

Ugh that's rediculous, what a waste. :pinch:

I'm planing on driving this thing the rest of my life, and I'll prolly get a few more, I've really fallen in love with the rotary engine, ingenious, simple, and fast as hell. I'm gonna eventually get a new engine, a 13B with a turbo or two, whenever this one dies. :D

Mines only got 58,000 (orig) miles on it, it sat for about 9 years, but was taken care of, barelly driven in those nine years. lol, The tires were made in 1996, lol so I replaced them, if you had seen them you would have sworn they were brand new, The little rubber stringy things were still there.

    • Ummmm that is what is it supposed to do. Just turn if off in settings if you do not want it analyzing your open tabs. Chrome does the same thing with Gemini. Sarfari will do the samething after Apple's AI and even more so with the release of their 27 versions that is now powered by Googles LLM/ML models. Understanding why it is doing it and how it can help you vs jumping to some conspiracy theroy is a much better approach. As long as it can be turned off, all is good. Yes the default should be off but the a lot of people would never discover these features.
    • Just another reason (aside from many others) not to use Edge. Firefox 153.0b5 DEx64 has a similar feature added recently in prior builds that I will turn off at some point when I get around to it. It's the new "Something looks suspicious" page that pops up here and there. It cleverly hides itself between web pages that I've actually visited; as a result, you know, of selecting a web page and telling the browser where to go. The interesting thing is that it does not produce these warnings from pages that I, as the only intelligent user of the browser in my system, have ever directed the browser to open! What seems to be happening is that the browser looks at all the goofy ad links on a web page I do actually open and selects one that "looks suspicious" and then creates the "something looks suspicious" web page, which is neatly inserted, as mentioned, between web pages my RB ("real brain") has directed the browser to load in a session. The thing is, I usually look at links I am considering to follow before I ask the browser to load them, and in cases I have noticed where the link does indeed look suspicious, most of the time I will choose to not follow the link at all. Doesn't everyone do this or something similar? I am picky about what I voluntarily load... (I don't like links that start off fine, with a site designaiton that seems normal enough but then is followed by indecipherable alphanumeric strings many, many lines long, etc. I tend to reject those because they look suspicious. They may not be, but I don't care... I'll stay with Firefox, of course, if for no other reason than they usually let you turn off the junk you don't like. And because it isn't Edge... But at some point Microsoft will come to realize that putting your bookmarks on the left side is a Good Thing for a lot of people, just as Microsoft discovered when it had the bright idea of nailing the Windows taskbar to the bottom of the screen, when for decades Microsoft browsers had left that placement up to the user. They have finally reversed the obscenity of that decision. Finally.
    • Google was using the old CATPCHAs data to train their LLMs. What is the say they won't use this camera data of users to train their LLM? these companies need some strict regulations!
    • Depends on what you need. Might be a bit clearer on what you plan to do with it. Sort of a waste if you get the newest and greatest, but don't know how to use it.
