Digital download music serivce

Please no flamming, I am looking for honest answers. I truly think that digital download services are here to stay. I think that the new Y! service may give MSN and Itunes a run for their money and hopefully drive down prices.

What are your thoughts? Do you like the services? Do digitally protected music (Itunes AAC/DRM WMA) files still annoy you and you refuse to purchase them? What service do you find adds the newest singles/albums the quickest?

I personally right now am using both MSN music and Y! music service to fill my Zen Micro. Of course I still have all my mp3s and somewhat look on the internet for songs.

If you want to simply buy songs -> MSN Music (large collection and supported by Microsoft) / iTunes (if you use iPod).

Subscribe for a portable player -> Y! Music (cheapest price).

Subscribe for a desktop computer -> MusicNow.

Those are my personal recommendations.

Oh, and it is here to stay. Definitely. It will actually grow much larger in support from artists and in subscriber numbers. We are only at a fraction of the potential.

iTunes is my fav. If Yahoo music service ever accepts PayPal, I'll subscribe to it.

both MSN music and Y! offer 192 kps WMA files.....basically cd quality files. They also allow you transfer them to whatver device you want as many times as you want and burn them up to 7 times. If you want to do anymore then that just burn it and reencode it as an mp3.

Look real close at what Y! says about that though....intoductory price. Probably will increase after a while.
