[Definitive] Sony PS3 Thread

I would like to know how that controller feels. It still looks a bit odd.

i'm sure everyone wants to know how the controller feels.

but because of the really negative response to it, sony are very like to change it. there's still a long way to go before it comes out, so the controller could get a complete redesign, and the console itself may change as well.

Hope that happens.

Im sure if the controller dosent feel right, we could always switch for the older controle, and put the newer one on ebay or amazon.  :D

yeah, but i'm sure everyone who gets a PS3 will get used to the controller eventually... unless it's very discomforting to them, which i highly doubt. i mean people got used to that ginormous xbox controller, so the PS3 one should be a breeze :)

yeah and who will want a wired controller by the time the ps3 comes out?

i understand many people don't need wireless, even i don't, but wireless gives you freedom and style. in 2006, wireless will be the norm, so regardless of ugliness, people will just use whatever sony throws at them.

let's just hope it looks nice though.

I'd just take it as a given that all the next gen ones will have AA. It isn't like the GPUs on any of the 3 systems won't be able to handle it...

maybe...

sony havent hinted on anything about the ps3 and anti-aliasing... so u never know...

aye well lets hope so,, i dont wanna buy some junk at the end of the day and pay loads :shifty:

To those of you who plan to get a PS3: If it ends up costing around $500, will you still wanna get it?

586008136

No, if there are some killer apps at release maybe i'll buy it if it's released at $299.. If it's not at that price, I'll buy it for sure when the price drops down to $250.

usually if a console is x USD then it'll be x GBP, which is crap. but they would never price it at ?500. no one would ever buy that in the UK.

Depends what it launches with...if there's some good titles in the mix then yeah, but if there's only a couple than I can see myself waiting till it's around $400

you're right, but then again most people know that.

pc performance will always catch up, and surpass, console performance because separate components are upgradable.

if PCs one day became un-upgradable, then the story would be completely different. there'd be a lot more competition from gfx card makers to get the most powerful graphics and performance to last the longest time.

[new to neowin first post :p im from bahia brazil]

so i dont think the ps3 will beat pc games.....

i think the g70 sli and the r520 crossfire will own all the next gen...

if ur a performance phreak like me i dont think ps3's graphics will remain the BEST!

586010682

true, but you have to think of what enhancements to power the XB360 and PS3 have. Go play Halo 2 on a PC with the same specs as an Xbox. You can't.

Really? You mean if I spend a $1000 on two Nvidia SLI cards and another $500 on a cpu and motherboard, and a couple hundred more on ram and hard drives it will beat a $300-500 console.

true... i aint gonna buy it if its over 300-350 quid on launch... (my personal opinion... well its not worth it... regardless of features... at the end of the day its just a games console... not a pc)

So kick back, relax, and hold on to your wallets. The Epic Games Store's mystery giveaways may have ended, but its regular freebies didn't miss a step this week. The double drop was for copies of Warhammer 40K Speed Freeks and The Ouroboros King. Speed Freeks lands for multiplayer racing fans, but with plenty of competitive shooting elements too. You will be piloting Ork buggies, tanks, and aircraft modeled after the popular tabletop miniatures while trying to complete objectives and pass finish lines. Next, Ouroboros King is a crossover between chess and tactical roguelikes, offering the chance to create your own army with special rules to beat incoming foes on the board. The double giveaway on the Epic Games Store will be available until June 11, and replacing it will be Citizen Sleeper and ROBOBEAT. The Humble Store brought a new charity bundle to check out this week too. • When will the Photos app be updated to remember the window size and position when reopened? They addressed this issue in a 2024 version of the app (though I can't recall the build number). Unfortunately, after that specific version, the problem persists! Please prioritise this fix in your K2 schedule. Additionally, the Snipping Tool has lost the ability to capture the Windows Taskbar starting from the 2024 version!
    • Same, never saw it on Android or iOS. Guess only some people got it *shrugs*
    • Anthropic pulls Fable 5 and Mythos 5 after US export control order by Pradeep Viswanathan In April this year, Anthropic launched the Claude Mythos Preview frontier model with state-of-the-art cyber and coding capabilities for a select set of companies around the world. After preparing appropriate guardrails, early this week, Anthropic launched Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5, its most capable AI models. Claude Fable 5 is for general users and comes with strict safeguards, while Mythos 5 is designed with fewer safeguards for cybersecurity and biology use cases. Today, Anthropic abruptly suspended access to its Fable 5 and Mythos 5 AI models for all customers after receiving an export control directive from the US government. The company received the directive from the government today at 5:21 p.m. ET, and the received letter did not provide any details regarding the national security concern. Anthropic understands that the government became aware of a method to bypass, or “jailbreak,” Fable 5, which might be the reason behind the directive. The order was issued under national security authorities and requires the company to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether they are inside or outside the United States. The restriction also applies to foreign national employees working at Anthropic. As a result, the company has disabled both models for all customers to ensure compliance. Access to previous Anthropic models like Opus and Sonnet is not affected by this government order. The company highlighted that it had developed strong safeguards to reduce the possibility that Fable is misused for tasks related to cybersecurity. In fact, many developers are complaining that the safeguards are going overboard. Additionally, the company worked with the US government, the UK AISI, multiple private third-party organizations, and internal teams to red-team Fable’s safeguards for thousands of hours. Finally, Anthropic noted that no testers have yet been able to find a universal jailbreak on Fable 5. As expected, Anthropic disagrees that a narrow potential jailbreak should lead to the recall of a commercial model used by hundreds of millions of people. It warned that applying this standard across the AI industry could effectively halt new frontier model deployments. Anthropic concluded by mentioning that it is working to restore access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 as soon as possible and plans to share more details within the next 24 hours.
