PS3 priced at $465?

Recommended Posts

all indications from research companies was xbox 360 = 249-299.  Have not heard any other price.

first rumor of ps3 is 465,  that's a lot but it's just the first rumor...but with the cell in it and blueray dvd drives...it will get mighty expensive

I very much doubt the x360 is going to retail for $300. Though there are rumors going around that there will be two different versions so it's possible there will be a cut down version for $300 and a "fully featured" version for $400-$500.

PS3 will retail for $400 usd, just like the PS2 did.  X360 will retail for around $350-$400 usd.

If you guys think that is too much I think you need to take a look at what you are paying for you're computers, you're HDTVs or your LCD monitors.

I'd love to know exactly it is that you know that for sure. Are you a Sony executive? Because I think I'll go off Sony itself saying it'll release in Japan for around the equivalent of $465 USD than I'll believe you saying it's $400... no offense :)

And, I don't have HDTVs or LCD monitors. My computer is more than $400 obviously, but that's not comparable.

Call it a hunch. :shifty:

As far as your computer, do you use it to play alot of games? If so then well, your computer cost more then $1000 most likely and will be 2 or more times slower in it's current configuration then these $400 consoles at playing games and watching media. In the case of the PS3 you'll also be getting a HD movie player.

I'm getting a 360 first anyways, $465usd is insane for something like that... just think how us canadians feel about these prices!!

yeah i know. its like a years worth of pay. JK. i dont think they need to release it at such a steep price unless its for one reason, well it can work both ways. if they release it at $465 with low volume then it will be bought up quickly and then resold for an inflated price causing an extreme demand. after a month or two they will release a special, lower the price and increase volume, helping the current demand or PS3s. i could go into more detail but theres no real need.

Please don't tell me you're going to use the old "I have connections in the industry who tell me everything" line...

Yes, I use it to play a lot of games. I can play Half-Life 2 at the max settings, as well as Far Cry at close-to-the-max. But, I did not spend a plethora of money on it. It was a cheap computer ($500 to 800, I don't remember the exact amount), and I upgraded the videocard to a 9550. It doesn't cost much more than $1000 if it does.

And, wow, it plays movies? Holy crap! Let's all go get one -- who else would think of having a DVD player on a console?! Secondly, a console is meant for games... a PC can sometimes be, but not always. There is a reason PC's cost more -- they do far more than a console will probably ever do.

It has the same price as a decent graphics card for a pc...

It might be an expensive console for alot of people, but I don't care and will buy it on day one. Especially with the new GTA being a launch title, I've bought every GTA on launch day.

By the way, both previous PlayStations had $400 + price tag as well.

465 is around what I expected. We pay that much just for a gfx card for our computers so I don't see what's so expensive about it.

You say that like everyone can afford expensive video cards. Majority of PC users do not have high end gfx. Hell I dont even have one. Usually the people who can, are exactly the peopple who would buy a PSP or PS3 at launch with their ridiculous pricing. A very few.

It might just be me but I have no problem using memory cards and wired controllers. I've never had much problem with wires because I never have to sit too far away from my tv. The only problem I had with a ps2 memory card is I left it in my pants pocket and it went through the wash. Though it still worked the first two times that happened. Why are people bitching about memory cards? I'd rather have a memory card that way when I goto my cousins house I only need this small palm sized card to take with me to load my games (because we work together when we get stuck)...I'd rather that than pull the console apart and carry a god damn hard drive with me

At that price, a dollar poind conversion works well.  But the age old rule of $1 = ?1 will probably come into play...

And also, at that price, they better not be as "disposable" as PS2s... Faulty laser, buy a new one!

All of a sudden Sony is going to change their shoddy business practices? Look at their new expensive "portable" handheld, it's filled with dead pixel issues and dust under the screen. No thanks, but buying a Sony product is like buying a ticking timebomb. What that means is, if you really desperate to buy a Sony product, you will have to add the additional cost of extended warranty.

    • Microsoft brings Planner Agent to all Microsoft 365 Copilot users by Ivan Jenic Image: Microsoft Microsoft has announced that Planner Agent in Microsoft 365 Copilot is now generally available to all users with a Microsoft 365 Copilot license. Planner Agent is the latest addition in the string of AI features that Microsoft is implementing across virtually all of its products. The agent lets you manage tasks through natural language prompts directly inside Microsoft 365 Copilot. You can create and update tasks, check priorities, and get insights about current entries without leaving the chat interface. The general availability release comes with a handful of new additions on top of what was available during the initial rollout. A new plan picker lets you search and filter your plans by name, then update task names, statuses, due dates, or priorities through the agent. There's also a goals bucket now, which lets you group tasks under specific goals. This builds on the Goals view, a feature that was introduced as part of the broader Planner refresh that rolled out earlier. Image: Microsoft | Planner Agent in Microsoft 365 Copilot All AI-generated plans and tasks are created in draft mode by default, so you can review and approve changes before anything goes through. This is actually a thoughtful safety feature, because trusting AI to handle all your tasks without a human in the loop is usually a recipe for disaster. Having tasks initially saved as drafts is the best possible middle ground. Microsoft also says that not all tasks are executed equally. Simple tasks get processed quickly, while more complex ones, like building a plan from a Word, Excel, or PowerPoint file, are handed to a more capable model. Microsoft says this approach delivers the best performance, but it could also help with usage management, as you won't have to waste tokens on performing simple tasks. Planner Agent is available now across Teams, Loop, SharePoint, and other Microsoft 365 apps for anyone on a Microsoft 365 Copilot subscription.
    • To be clear I'm anti trump, the bigger point is why review this game at all?
    • Trillion dollar Microsoft has to reduce spending by hurting more people. Good job Microsoft. Good Job Asha.
    • That's a shame. The big Xbox reset when Phil and Sarah left and then Asha came on and brought a new team of executives, and all the layoffs last year and saying that the ABK merger wouldn't result in redundancies I am surprised they are calling for yet another reset and yet more layoffs.
    • Arkane, Ninja Theory, and Double Fine might be on the chopping block too.
