[general] AutoPatcher XP Tweaks - Minor Update

Recommended Posts

what exactly were you running, and which did you download?

ie

- did you try it on a copy of May Full, or a copy with May Update?

- did you apply May Full to a previous version - which shouldnt be done!!

- did you download the full tweak set or just the updated file

if it was May Full which wasnt applied to a previous version, did you drop it into AutoPatchers \Modules folder or \Modules\Tweaks folder ??

ok, well there was no need to download everything, just either the updated files or the full sets.

the error is probably due to somehow ending up with multiple copies of one or more files.

Its probably best if we start from scratch, delete your autopatcher folder, re-extract the May Full release.

Then extract either the updated file, or the full set into the \modulels\tweaks folder.

Make sure you dont drop them into the \modules folder itself.

If it still occurs we'll look further into it

Dont worry, ive managed to figure it out myself

Problem 1:

Gandolas had included the fixed copy of functionality.amc in the May release.

(The old copy was accidently named functionaliity.amc with two i's.)

This causes two problems

- Anyone using the may update and therefore AP 5.0, may recieve an error due to having two files with the same unique id.

- Anyone using The full May release (Using AP5.1) may see functionality appearing twice.

Problem 2:

I had included the tweaks.amc file in the new full tweak set, replacing tweaks in any AP5.0 release, including May update would overwrite the original copy and not be a problem.

However, with the May full release you had to extract the files into a sub folder which meant you ended up with two copies of the file which caused the error you saw.

Resolution

For An AP 5.0 release:

Delete functionaliity.amc and functionaliity.lst from AutoPatchers \Module folder

NOTE - Make sure you delete the one with two i's !!

For An AP 5.1 release:

Delete the same files as above but from the \Modules\Tweaks folder.

Also Delete the tweaks.amc and tweaks.lst files from the same folder, but leave the ones in the \Modules folder.

talking about this kind of errors, it's impossible to load adobe acrobat reader 7 module from sticked thread, i even edited it to be all locales but it still won't work, as soon as it tries to load i get major ****** up message telling the error, once i click ok in it, AP closes :/

^^where did you extract the contents of the file too?

it may be that you extracted it into the addons folder, which is correct, however a copy of ms_addons.amc and ms_addons.lst may have been bundled with it and also dropped into the addons folder meaing you then have two copies.

Deleting the copies in the addons folder will fix it.

The error is most likely to do with having multiple copies of files.

nop, i checked and found no multiple files, i believe we'll need raptor to look at this and maybe make some debug build i could launch in order to locate the problem, only files i need to copy for this module are:

acrobat_reader_7.0.amc_files

acrobat_reader_7.01_update.amc_files

acrobat_reader_7.0.amc

acrobat_reader_7.01_update.amc

i fear i no longer have it, since i don't keep installs of modules i apply to AP :/ all i got left are those folders and 2 files, if i move em to AP dir AP crashes, if i remove em it loads just fine. also that acrobat reader amp file is in stand alone modules sticky thread on top

i'm after party, rename it and see, it's impossible for me atm

Copy_of_acrobat_reader_7.0.amc.zip

aha, i think i know what it is!

AP 5.1 doesnt use the unique id field, instead it uses the name of the file without the extension as its id.

the adobe acrobat reader module had a unique id of 'ADOBE_ACROBAT_READER_7'

and therefore the 7.0.1 update module would have 'ADOBE_ACROBAT_READER_7' as its parent id.

however AP 5.1 is using 'acrobat_reader_7.0' as the id, and therefore a module with the id of 'ADOBE_ACROBAT_READER_7' doesnt exist.

if you change the parent id field of the 7.0.1 update module, to the file name (minus extension) of the main module, it'll work

:D
