trance Posted May 22, 2005 Share Posted May 22, 2005 you need to set up a webserver first that can connect to the machine you want to remote into. Firefox would need to be able to run the activex control that is needed to connect thru the webserver. I do not know if that is possible. I installed RD Web, but do not use IIS to serve the page (I like apache better) so i disabled IIS. You can always download the RD utility from MS website to connect using non xp machines. I personally prefer it over the web method. Been able to DL the control and then use RD web on 5 machines this way. nvme Posted May 23, 2005 Share Posted May 23, 2005 isnt the activex control just downloaded and executed by the client browser? meaning the webserver itself doesnt need to support activex because it handles it like a file. the activex control is executed from the client machine and runs just as if you were using the remote desktop application except in a browser window. Included in that, you still must have direct access from the client to the host. The web server is not a TS proxy as many people seem to think it is.
