Remote Desktop Web connection Setup and questions

Recommended Posts

Firefox does not accept the activex control. My setup is the following... I installed RD Web, but do not use IIS to serve the page (I like apache better) so i disabled IIS. You can always download the RD utility from MS website to connect using non xp machines. I personally prefer it over the web method.

How'd you get it to work with Apache? It doesn't support ActiveX does it?

All I did was define a virtual directory to the tsweb folder. Apache must support it because IE will pick up on the ActiveX and install. Been able to DL the control and then use RD web on 5 machines this way.

hmm.. that does sound interesting... I am gonna try this.

isnt the activex control just downloaded and executed by the client browser? meaning the webserver itself doesnt need to support activex because it handles it like a file. the activex control is executed from the client machine and runs just as if you were using the remote desktop application except in a browser window.

I think it is important to know that all the web client is is a n active X control that does less things than the actual TSclient. Included in that, you still must have direct access from the client to the host. The web server is not a TS proxy as many people seem to think it is.
