In short, Water and a soft cloth. DO NOT use cotton balls as they can leave cotton threads all over your screen.

It's recommended that you turn off the screen but it probably won't kill it if you don't.

I don't know why people say that, I use glass cleaner, windex, cheap windex immitation, all different cleaning products, and my screens look like they're brand new, completly identical. Unless I just got lucky with all 13 or so of my previous laptops

But water and a soft non static, cloth that doesn't leave particles of anything behind is best.

I use Pledge Electronic Cleaner-- you spray some on a soft cloth, and then wipe the screen. You can use it on TVs, VCRs, Computers, whatever. It works great, as long as you use a cloth that doesn't leave stupid little threads all over. :)

Most people suggest using half-windex, half-water mixture and just wiping it. But .. this has been discussed so many times heh..

Soft cloth and rubbing alcohol works best. For those worried about damaging the screen you can use a mixture of water as well, though I personally have never had any problems.
