Binary: I have Ergonomic and Blue done for thin taskbars if you don't have any done, I can package em up and send em your way so you can work of them.  Lots of bitmaps had to be f0x0r5ed with before I could get the right look.

Here it is so far:

Yes I did a small taskbar version and ended up scrapping it by accident... (So I know how many bmp's had to be changed)

Thats cute, but too small. If anything I'm only going to lower it by 1 or 2 pixels..

Actually I think it would be great if we could get an idea about any new color schemes you're thinking about, Binary. I know I'd love to see a black scheme and maybe even a nice bright red scheme. :) Thanks!

/edit/ OK I'm kinda slow and I just noticed that the Watercolor Plus suggestion thread was closed, so I hope no one minds, but I thought of something that might be kinda cool for future WC's. What do you think of multiple colors in a scheme? This sounds kinda corny, but to give an idea, you could use a green and red theme for Christmas or a black and orange theme for Halloween. I dunno, just thought it was worth mentioning. I'm done now :D /edit/

I think this is a good idea.

It's been mentioned b4. I liked the idea, but the contrast was just to awful imo.

I find it bizarre to think changing a tiny flag to a tiny apple will miraculously improve the entire feel of the OS, especially if one thinks the OS is restrictive and dull. It's just a few pixels, after all. If changing one tiny little icon to the logo of another OS can make Windows change from crappy to divine, then I think the problem is entirely in the eye of the beholder. -_-

i totally agree :)

Hey Binary i was experimenting today with replaceing bitmaps with a color in a theme (just for kicks) and though stylebuilder wont let you do this .. if the class is defined as a image you cant change it to a color .. you can edit the xml document that stylebuilder creates for your style and replace the Bgtype=imagefile information with borderfill information .. you could conceiveably reduce the size of watercolor WAY more by changeing to a color reference where you are just useing a single color image now. The method worked with the images i tested and once you manually replace the image info with a color reference you can open the style back up in stylebilder and its happy to work with the color reference ....

:)

i dont see any light blue text ... :)

but i think what you are after is taskbar-rebar-textcolor ...

Yes! That's it! Woohoo! Thanks man :D.

Here is an update with an almost done Start Menu...

The logoff/shutdown buttons are from Mafia and the Places portion just has an Inner Shadow applied to it.

Comments and suggestions are needed!

Can we please keep this thread on track? It's only for discussion of the current watercolor theme. I dont wish to discuss any theme mods or plus versions in here, as it only leads to fights...

What's this obsession with a thin taskbar? Frankly it makes everything look too squashed to me. The thin menubar in apple has a different function, where a thin form factor can work. A thin taskbar not only looks awful, but must be more difficult to use.

    • If built properly, swapping out the backend should be an easy task, but as the article points out, it's just Apple not wanting to do this.
    • Microsoft's new Xbox Shutdown change promises massive power efficiency gains by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Microsoft has been delivering a lot of changes for Xbox Insiders to test in recent weeks, and today, another wave of changes aimed at consoles was announced. The latest drop is testing features that let users find mutual friends easier, customize their UI, and streamline wishlisting. When looking at an Xbox friend's profile, an option will appear to see mutual friends, perhaps to get a refresher on how you know that person. This will depend on the privacy settings. The same applies to when checking the profile of a person who is not in the friends list, offering a quick way to find out if this is a known connection. Next, Microsoft is giving the option to change how the 'Home' and 'Games & Apps' sections show off available games. There is a new poster style that users can enable for an "immersive library experience." "We’ve also made personalization settings easier to navigate and customize by separating Home and My Games & apps into separate sections," adds the company. "And to make personalization even more accessible, we’ve added new shortcuts throughout menus, so you can quickly jump in and tailor your XBOX experience the way you want." Moreover, heading to the store page of an unreleased game will now offer players the option to wishlist directly from the game card. Lastly, Microsoft is making a change to Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S consoles that are in Sleep mode, making them use the more energy-saving 'Shutdown' mode instead automatically. The company says this can increase power savings by up to 20 times without impacting "performance, gameplay, or your ability to receive system, games or apps updates overnight." The only down side seems to be a longer startup time that can take up to 45 seconds. The setting was originally introduced in 2023, and this is only the latest update to it. The power option can be changed from the console settings at any time. This Xbox Insider update is rolling out today to select members of the program. As usual, Microsoft aims to bring it to more Insiders over time before they reach all Xbox owners. Head here to find out how to join the Xbox Insider Program to get a chance to test these features and upcoming ones on both consoles and PC.
    • 2 was a fun game but felt a bit shallow, like not enough there. I hope this expansion fixes that.
    • I haven't paid for windows since windows 8. So I guess I would be happy to pay for a new version if it meant seeing fewer adverts (none) or product pushes. But that applies to _any_ service or OS.
