Web Host Needed with CPanel

Question

Hi everyone,

theunknown and I are in need of a new server.. our traffic has outgrown 100gb and with a new (decent as the current is a placeholder) site design and some bandwidth hungry projects in the pipeline we're trynig to find a server with high bandwidth. Unlimited would be prefered because we dont need to worry about it. however something with 500gb or more would be nice for the mean time.

What we need are:

MySQL (more then one but not necessarily unlimited)

PHP

CPanel (latest version preferred)

500gb + bandwidth

minimum 1gb storage space. we would prefer something around the 5gb area.

Subdomains - a few would be good, doesnt need to be unlimited

Domain (not needed but we are going to buy a new one anyway to change the name of the site)

Other features are not as important.

We are not hosting music or video files, infact many of our files are less than 1mb each.

Does anyone know where we can find the best deals on something like this. I have had trouble finding a decent host with cpanel and the bandwidth we require. Obviously we are looking at spending more than $9.95  but we arent looking at spending more than $200USD per month if possible because there are some decent 300gb offers and we could always get a couple of those :p

Thanks!

if you talk to timdorr then maybe he can give you a customized plan (from ASmallOrange hosting)....otherwise, for less than $200 a month, you can get a low to middle class dedicated server....wouldn't be a fancy dual xeon rig or anything, but it would work.....

either way would theoretically work

you think 500GB is a lot, take a look at this plan

Intel Pentium 4 ? 2.8Ghz

1024 Ram

80GB ATA 100 7200 RPM HD1200 GB Bandwidthb>

Starting a[[$129 monthly with $0 setup feeu>[/i]i>[/b]b>

i know i sound like a sales rep for servermatrix, but it honestly seems like maybe something like that would be appropriate for your needs...of course, you can customize it (and you have to add $20 a month for CPanel) but still it is significantly less than $200.....anyways, good luck in your search

yeah 500gb isnt that much, can be eaten very quickly when hosting files. we have only a small portion of what we plan to have on te site and 100gb is clearly not enough for us once we expand.

thank you nashy depending how things go i might just do that

and fedorpheux i will check that out tonight (my work firewall blocks it) you have been great help :) !

Any other suggestions are appreciated. :) thank you all so far.

i'd be very wary of sites like that.....sometimes they do actually provide what they say they will, or (as the case is all to often) it's all bulls*** and they flake out on you once they get your money...

i've personally experienced both of those to things....when it did work out, the hosting company just got bought out by another one months later and the plans totally changed and i got screwed over....

now, however, i am with ASmallOrange

thanks cryptic :) some of the things we wish to add cannot be done without greater bandwidth.

now.. im also skeptical about those 9.99 unmetered plans and i would rather not bother with them.. how they can justify the cost is beyond me.

it looks like that plan for 1200gbs is what we will need to go with. I'm still unable to see full details of that plan until im home. we are not in a great rush to get it set up so hopefully some more suggestions can come our way.

can i please remind those of you kind enough to take the time to reply that we are needing a large amount of bandwidth.. 500gb is a minimum we will go for. A dedicated server might be the way to go.

well ive been looking around, and it seems the best way to go is with a dedicated server. Something that hasnt been mentioned is that preferable the SQL database is also dedicated on that same machine.

Ive been looking at the ServerMatrix offers. And i now have a pretty good idea of what we need and roughly how much it'll cost, the only issue would be price.

2.8 P4

80Gig HD

1Gig Mem

1500Gig Monthy B/W

100Mb Uplink

CPanel (Required)

Dedicated SQL Server (Preferable)

PHP (Required)

That setup with ServerMatrix will cost around 230USD p/m - But as fizical has said we really need to keep it below 200, so any suggestions (or offers) are welcome. We've spent a few hours looking but cant find much in the way of suitable deals.

Anyway, thanks in advance for any advice or help you guys can offer, its most appreciated.

its 300mb less bandy, but you said over 500gb, and 1200gb seems good enough, and its within your budget, that price includes cpanel and whm and a 100mbps upink rather than 10.

it sounds good... but it includes no DB. Ive been looking around a little more, and everyone ive found charges a setup fee for dedicated servers. It's looking like ServerMatrix are extremely compedative and have a good reputation And although below 200 is preferable, im sure we'll pay a little extra if it means we get what we want from a reliable company.

Is CPanel a must? We use these guys http://www.ipowerweb.com/products/dedicate...er/servers.html and PLESK is fairly easy to get used to. I was desperate for CPanel when we moved, but its rarely that I miss it now.

And although its only a 2.4 Celeron, it seems to handle stuff nicely. They only charge $49 for setup if you're planning to pay for 6 months in advance, and our MySQL DataBases are unlimited and on the same dedicated server. They've also not imposed bandwidth limits on us. Its pretty damn good for the price.

Just in case you can't see it because of work firewalls or something, I'll quote the package I mean:

  Quote
iPro 2.4 Intel Celeron GHz - $99/mo

Intel Celeron 2.4 GHz

Integrated GA-8LD533(-P) Micro-ATX motherboard

Excellent cooling design

1024 MB DDR 266 RAM Installed (2 x 512MB)

Up to 2GB of memory capacity

120 GB enhanced IDE harddisk (8ms or less access time)

RealTek 8101L 10/100 fast Ethernet port

Integrated 845GL Chipset with onboard video

Compatible with Windows 2000/XP, Linux or FreeBSD OS

I think that their non-dedicated packages come with CPanel, so I'm sure they'd be able to install it if you wanted it that desperately.

They've always been pretty helpful (if a little...robotic. See attachment.) when we've had queries before.

I can offer you this for $59.95 a month. The machine you would be hosted on runs FreeBSD with cpanel.

700 GB Transfer per month

5 GB of storage

5 MySQL databases (same machine, or they can be hosted non locally if you wish)

25 E-mail Accounts

unlimited subdomains

unlimited email aliases

As far as domain registration, you can handle that part yourself.

If interested email me - ryan@digitalflare.com

Hey mate, You should contact servermatrix, I'm pretty sure they would provide some sort of database software, mysql etc. Give them an e-mail and work out the details with them. You never know and you could save yourself the money.

    • Basically, they can hire someone with less skill for a lower wage, for example from India, and use AI to bring that employees output up to the level of someone more experienced and expensive. It’s a broad cost-cutting strategy, and plenty of companies are already doing it. With AI involved, the employee just needs to check that the AI's results aren’t complete junk. They don’t actually have to know how to produce the work themselves. You just get one high level employee to triple check who does. The workflow looks like this: AI generates the content, a low-skilled worker filters out anything clearly broken or wrong, and a high-skilled worker gives it a final pass. Instead of hiring a full team of experts, companies can rely on a few at the top while AI and cheaper labour handle the bulk of the process.

    • LG Electronics sees profit dip but boosts shareholder returns by Paul Hill LG Electronics (LGE) has reported consolidated sales of 20.74 trillion Korean Won (approximately $15.14 billion USD) and an operating profit of 639.4 billion Korean Won (approximately $466.75 million USD) for the second quarter of 2025. The firm saw both its revenue and operating profits decline year-over-year due to external factors such as US tariff policies, ongoing geopolitical issues in the Middle East, and a slowdown in consumer spending. While the company has faced challenges, the company is aiming for what it called qualitative growth by strengthening its subscription services, direct online sales, and business-to-business (B2B) segments. Key areas of growth for LGE include automotive electronics, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, and the webOS platform. The US tariffs are a major headache for companies around the world, given the size of the market there and President Trump's demands for bringing manufacturing to the States. To combat the rising US tariffs, LGE is trying to optimize global production and refine its market-specific approaches for premium and mass-market products. While the company’s profits dipped, it announced an interim dividend of 500 Korean Won (approximately $0.37 USD) per share for both common and preferred, with another payout later in the year that should take the total for 2025 to at least 1,000 Korean Won (approximately $0.73 USD). You must be holding the stock on August 8, 2025, to get the payout on August 22, 2025. The firm also said it will cancel 761,427 common treasury shares on July 31, 2025, making shares more scarce which could increase the value of remaining shares for investors. In terms of LGE’s various business divisions, things were mixed. Its Home Appliance Solution (HS) business achieved year-over-year sales growth, maintaining profitability, thanks to a dual strategy for premium and volume segments and growth in online sales and subscriptions. Its Media Entertainment Solution (MS) business experienced declines in sales and operating profits with the latter turning negative due to market uncertainties and stiff competition. Its Vehicle Solution (VS) business showed growth in sales and operating profit thanks to increased orders from European automotive makers. Finally, its Eco Solution (ES) business saw domestic sales increase, but overseas sales growth was limited due to US tariffs. This led to a slight year-over-year drop in operating profit due to higher costs. Image via Depositphotos.com
