very nice. i lke that you reversed the start button. much better this way (though in the pressed state the colors still looks too bright to go with the style)

only consern is - dont you think the blue shade in the shellstyle does not quite match the blue in vs? though it does look original :)

thank for the mod

Well, I personally don't use shellstyles so I only did it as an extra for completeness' sake. Feel free to change it yourself, its pretty easy with ResHacker. Either that or knock up a quick mock in Photoshop of what colour you think would best match.

I do agree with the start button being too bright, but I tried simply dropping the saturation and it just ended up looking dull. I might look into 'borrowing' a start button from another style, or perhaps make it more of a winflag.

And more importantly, thankyou for using it.

Edit: I updated the theme to have orange selection boxes in the start menu, for consistency, and I'm looking into making a replacement start button for both substyles. For now I just dropped the saturation a little.

I also tried to fiddle with the shellstyle, but I'm far from an expert and can't seem to make the changes I want, beyond editing the images. StyleBuilder sure can be confusing...

I also feel a little like I'm thread-hijacking. Let me know if I should make this a seperate topic. The original is a beautiful theme and I don't want to detract from people seeing it.

Something weird with the start button, don't know if it's intentional or not, but looks like each corner has a single pink pixel. (see below)

Normally I don't post in threads like this, but both of these themes are really good, and I hope they keep getting better. Good job, both of you guys.

Can I get a couple of suggestions as to what to replace the start button with? I have a few ideas, but I'd rather get it right first time for once.

nice theme....

i really like the mod too, even despite the "funkiness" of the shell style. i was using Sustenance for a while before trying this out, and the startbar looks huge after the switch. i really like mod's neutral blue scheme though, but i kinda' miss the thinner startbar a whole lot...

I did the compact mode too...

And I really have no idea what to do with the shellstyle, I'm not experienced enough to make one from scratch.

i really dont know. i loved winflags on all the opus themes by b0se, but they are his original 3d work. maybe something other then winflag...

another request. can you made the green log off button on the start menu yellow - like the minimize button. i would much prefer it. its enough that i have to deal with this green on maximize button. red and yellow would look much better then red and green next to each other.

thanks again.

ps. as for shell style - i am actually liking it after the initial shock  looks real good with my current icon set, so i am al for leaving it be.

pps. can you fix the issue from before though. the quick launch isons are spaced too widely in the vs. i usually fit 6 icons there, but in this vs only 5 fit in same space.

can they be arranged a bit more tightly like all the other styles?

Okay, I changed the Logoff button to yellow, I agree it looks nicer that way.

I also added Tahoma substyles, which I think are a lot easier on the eyes.

And, I shrunk the start menu, which looks a bit better and hopefully fixes the problem of text showing up on French copies of Windows.

Still no real ideas for startmenu buttons.. And I'll be leaving the shellstyle as is, if you got used to it, so can everyone else. :p

I'm not sure if I fixed the QuickLaunch problem. Have a look for me, since I don't use it, and its difficult for me to gauge the changes.

For me, I get three icons showing by default no matter what VS I use. I'm thinking its tied to the OS icon sizes, but I'm not sure.

    • As much as I love owning my own hardware, it's hard to argue with the value. I'm not a huge gamer, I'd actually be interested in a cheaper plan with limited monthly hours, or even a pay-by-the-hour plan.
    • Well, they (LibreOffice/The Document Foundation) are bitchy and whiny, yes, but they're right, at least this time. It doesn't make sense to market something as "free and open source to thwart dependency on foreign companies' software" but at the same time, using the format of said companies (Microsoft) by default. That way, you are changing nothing, essentially, you're just using another UI. I'm not saying they should drop other formats altogether, but they shouldn't default to the thing they're trying to run away from in the first place. If you're gonna do something, just go all the way in, don't stop in the middle, IMO.

    • I'm surprised they haven't found a way to fix that. As much as I don't like software wasting memory, a file manager is the kind of thing that makes sense to keep running in active memory for super-fast recall. I suspect that is why MS makes their File Explorer part of the main explorer.exe shell, so that it is guaranteed to always be running.
