In case someone needs a GUI to change the wallpaper

in fluxbox here's something i've wrote up. Looks like this:

preview

To change the wallpaper just run flux-wall and that's it! :)

Can be added to the fluxbox menu aswell.

See attached deb file for easy install.

flux_wall_1_2.zip

Added information on making your own style, including window decorations and modifications to the init file that allow you to set your window gadgets where you like. The attached images in the first post include the .xcf, should anyone want to change color schemes.

Hope the addition is of interest and helpful to others.

Flux is just a Window Manager, so it doesn't have a 'control panel' type of app, but I think you can use xset to get what you want.

Found out about this little gem in the Flux menus:

  [submenu] (Wallpapers)
	[submenu] (G)
	  [wallpapers] (~/.fluxbox/backgrounds/g/)
	[end]
	[submenu] (R)
	  [wallpapers] (~/.fluxbox/backgrounds/r/)
	[end]
  [end]

The first line just sets up a submenu titled "Wallpapers", when selected or moused-over, presents the next two submenus that have a special [wallpaper] tag that points to a wallpapers folder of your choice, and will list all images in there for you to select from to make your wallpaper. If you have different sized images in there, you can specify how these images will be processed and set to your wallpaper my making the line look more like this:

	  [wallpapers] (~/.fluxbox/backgrounds/)  {feh --bg-scale}

I just added this into my Fluxbox menus today, and love it!

Yes, I know this thread is somewhat aged, but I did update the first post with some very interesting information I recently found out about binding non-standard keys in the keys file. Good stuff for flux users who were not aware of this trick.

Hi there,

That wos a really great guide...has stopped me from having to ask a lot of questions as you have answered them all already.

Thanks! :D

You registered to post a "thanks"? I appreciate that :D

If you have questions, or run into problems, feel free to post them (here for a question about the specific points mentioned, or a new thread in the Linux section here for other general questions or problems you may be having).

And welcome to Neowin!
