markwolfe Veteran Posted March 17, 2008 Author Veteran Share Posted March 17, 2008 This thread has been around a while, but bumping it with an update to the fluxbox thread. And, if the other threads get some attention out of the deal.... +Asmodai MVC Posted November 4, 2008 MVC Share Posted November 4, 2008 This may be an old thread, but I can write something about openbox. Please do. I use openbox as well if you would like any assistance. OS: Debian (Testing) Window Manager: Openbox Setup: GDM running openbox-session (no Desktop Environment) xcompmgr and gnome-settings-daemon, in autostart as well as various dockapps and stalonetray (docked) to handle system tray functions. Favorite Apps: (GTK2 or x-native only, I don't use anything that depends on Qt, Mono, or Java) Text Editor: Leafpad Music Player: Audacious (website currently down) Calendar, To Do lists, Contacts: Pimlico Dates, Tasks, and Contacts Web Browser: Midori (from unstable - early alpha so use at your own risk) File Manager: PCManFM Image Viewer: GPicView Archiver: Xarchiver Email: Claws Mail IM: Pidgin RSS Reader: Liferea Otherwise I probably use the Gnome default app but I do NOT use a gnome-panel, gnome-session, or anything that depends on them. markwolfe Veteran Posted November 5, 2008 Author Veteran Share Posted November 5, 2008 Here's a good one I found on the web: Openbox Guide I have a preference toward home-spun ones written by Neowin members, but that looks good, so adding it to the first post's listing.
