Initally i was contemplating whether to buy the Altec Lansing MX-5021 or FX-6021 or CS21. I had read good reviews and personally tested them but i read up in some audiophile forum that the Aego 2 is one of the best so i decided to give it a try. Honestly speaking i was apprehensive about the brand as i could hardly find a review and the website for it looks shoddy.

Anyway, today i went to the store to give it a test. The price was marked down from about US$480 to US$180 which is a little more than the price of the MX-5021 (i had set my mind on it earlier).

It comes with wall mounts, mini to mini stereo cable, mini to rca cable, 5 metres of cable for the speakers and a simple manual.

The clarity is amazing. It reveals much hidden detail in songs and the bass is dynamic not boomy even if you're a trance/techno/heavy bass kind of person it will satisfy you at max.

That tiny little speaker feels like lead its heavy and solid. The sub is slightly taller than my inspire t7700 which is considered tiny to my bose system in the hall. However the power of these babies are incredible. I have to turn the volume knob about 1/10 of the way just for normal use. The sound gets unbearably loud just 3/10 of the way. Needless to say I have never tested it at half volume.

I guess the only bad point is that it does not have full bass and treble adjustments not that i would use it anyway. It does have simple bass adjustments (Min/Normal/Max) minimum is too low for my liking. I use max cause i want slightly more thump. All in all i have to say i am really pleased with this set of speakers. I have no idea what frequency range it can put out or what is the power or the decibel output but i know its pretty loud considering my t7700 is not as loud as it at 2/10 even at half volume.

Note: there isn't 10 levels of adjustments i just estimated the amount i turned on the knob

its better than my Creative inspire T7700 (i know its not even a close comparison). the clarity is up there with the bose system but the bose has treble adjustments and this one doesn't. the bass is clear and rich (it can go very low) but not as detailed as the bose for obvious reasons (the sub has 2 drivers and is twice the size)

Last year we bought a friend of mine after serious listening sessions & investigations: I don't know which Bose model SojIrOu is referring but Aego2's are really shining in their class - also better than some entry level bookshelf types.

Btw, 180$ is unbeleivably superb price for those :o

finally someone who appreciates the Aego2. :D i bought it for S$299 so i divided it by 1.65 to convert to US$. it was marked down from S$799 which is about US$480. i saw online that it was ?299 when it first came out and droped to about ?99 so i thought why not. my dad didn't even want to go test out the MX-5021. he just told me to get it. lol.:laugh:h:

Don't worry  , I'm not the only one who appreciates those little monsters, Aego2 series has lots of awards from trusted Hi-Fi magazines

They're designed by the old Bose designer (I can't remember the name but a respected Japanese guy) without imperfections in his Bose designs...

Now I'm really curious about new 5.1 Aego P2 Mk2, I haven't had a chance to listen - Sometime I should make an appointment for a listening session :p

hmm i was out last week and heard some nakamichi and b&w speakers. man they're nice but way expensive. nakamichi has dual subs so they have 5.2 surround :woot: power.

i saw lots of great reviews mainly 5 stars or 4.5 stars of the Aego2 so i didn't have second thoughts about buying them. good thing i did.

the new Aego5 has even better speakers, cloth grilles and a more powerful sub i bet it'll sound nice. :D not to mention easier volume control. lol.

i'm wondering. my dad bought the Bose system quite a while back (more than 10 years) and its made in japan. so i'm guessing its the same guy that designed the Aego2? its no wonder i find such a similarity in the sound as well.

Yup i've adapted my foot to switch on and adjust the volume. I wonder why they didn't design a controller with the AegoM.

edit: saw your post in the soundcard review good choice you made

Too expensive, will get the x-230's instead then return them when I have enough money and then get the Aego's.

I bought these speakers several months ago and they are absolutely amazing for the price. Completely blow away all of the other speakers I've owned in this price range (including Logitech's). I own the newer Aego-M model which are a little more rounded.

Soon as you pick up the small satellite speakers and feel the weight of them, you can tell it's quality gear. They just fill up the room with sound and the bass is immense (and I'm a DnB fan!). You cannot get this kind of quality at this price. The only gripe in my case is lack of a remote, even a wired one. However, I've gotten used to it now.

I'm actually surprised to even see a review since they're not exactly common.
