Converting windows blinds skins into visual styles

Recommended Posts

Is there any utility that can do this? I really love the look of this WB skin http://www.wincustomize.com/ViewSkin.aspx?...ID=4317&LibID=1 is there anyway I can make it work with my patched uxtheme.dll? Or alternately does anyone know if a visual style of this skin has been made? Thanks.

he's actually asking to switch from windowblinds to visual styles which makes your uninformed remark useless in this thread. but as Bloodwork said, you are entitled to your own opinion.

i also do not believe there is any way to convert from windowblinds (UIS/UIS2) format to msstyles

To be honest im burnt out on windowblinds there are very few good skins left it seems that every 4 out of 5 skins has huge titlebars and taskbars and is graphicly intensive basicly i use watercolor lite but hey what ever bastes your turkey...

The exact samething can be said for msstyles. All ever see on here lately are variations of luna mods. Take the june desktop thread. I am willing to bet that 1/4 of them are using some variation of the luna element 3 skin.

It's all about personal taste. I agree that A LOT of WB are too flashy and big but there are also a huge number of them also that are great and very useable.

And to answer the question definatively, no there is no way of converting from WB to msstyle. In order to to that you would have to break up the .wba theme (not that hard, use winrar and extract the images) and then use stylebuilder or reshack to create an msstyle with the images that you extracted from the .wba theme. Very time consuming but that is the only way.

Rememer also that you don't get all the extra things skinned with the msstyle like the logon/off dialog box, etc...

I thought you could convert, because I remember the original souluna was converted by some guy, therefore when I worked on it the values were all wrecked and the theme had many bugs because of the transformation process...

um... just use Windowblinds? heh.. seems pretty easy to me.

Cyranthus, I believe they were trying to correct you because your post made no sense in this discussion.. and the fact that there wasn't a misunderstanding and you did know what you were saying worries me. I mean, was the point "the skin sucks because it was originally made for Windowblinds?" I mean, if that's the point you were trying to make then I can go on and disregard your comment, because that's just ignorant, but if that's not the case, then what was the point you were trying to make?

Oh well, yeah, no conversion utility. But yeah, some skinners have converted Windowblinds skins to msstyles, but they've just done it manually piece by piece.
