Just got back from my friends house and watch this since he taped it on his Tivo thingie, oh my god!

I know alot of Neowinians don't care for wrestling and that's fine, but for those of us who love wrestling, you OWE it to yourself to watch the replay of this PPV (if there is one) or buy it on DVD when it comes out. It was without a doubt the BEST wrestling PPV I've ever seen. Incredible wrestling and all the guys put their hearts into every moment of it. And just seeing Mick Foley and Joey Styles together and everything else, man the memories of 1996-2001!

And seeing Sabuuuuuuuuuuu! Sandman and Dreamer. It was so awesome, and speaking of awesome heh pun intended. The BEST match on the card was Mike Awesome vs. Tanaka (forgot his first name)

These two guys put on some of the best matches ECW ever had back in oh 2000 and 2001 I'd say, right before ECW went out of buisness. And their match last night was one to remember.

So did anyone else see it? I can post all the results if people want, and how good each match was etc, it really was a terrific event. Hell the WWE website was brought down because so many people were ordering the ECW PPV online! I hope Vince McMahon realizes how much potential actually exists with ECW still, and considers continuing the ECW storyline, or even an offshoot show/brand (not the brand extension crap, a real seperate company style thing)

I wish i would have seen it, but I've read some outcomes of the ppv. I read that Awesome powerbombed tanka onto the outside of the ring on a table. If this ECW was the most watched ppv then any other WWE ppv, i hope vince sees that and does some change to the company or does something with ECW.

Just a few things i want to ask about the ppv

What did stone cold do

Did the crusaders do anything

What happen to taz and angle

Yes, Awesome did his "Awesome Bomb" on Tanaka on the outside ring into a table. He powerbombed him through the table pretty much with a running jumping start. Just awesome (get it??? heh)

Well:

Stone Cold didn't do much, he came to the ring and called out the WWE wrestlers and then the big brawl at the end took place, with ECW destroying the WWE guys (props to all the WWE guys for letting this happen btw)

No, the Crusaders didn't do anything other than the brawl at the end. Though JBL ripped on ECW pretty good.

Taz was there, he came in at the end during the brawl along with Angle. Taz took out Angle and choked him out with his submission hold. There were like 50 guys in the ring at this point after Austin called the brawl and beer (JBL hahahah!)

^^Awesome, heard the crowd was insane, And that paul and rvd was rippin up wwe.

"Edge is here, good thing i didnt bring my wife"

"Only reason jbl is champ is becuase triple h didnt want to work tuesday"

LOL

Have you ever seen NWA TNA wrestling?? They tape there shows at universal studio here in orlando florida. I go there on occassion, a good escape from wwe. Good potential there too.

Oh man it was a great PPV, The sandman was WASTED Though, Bubba ray DDTd himself. It felt like a WWE house show to me, where its not televised and they can do whatever they want. The only match i didnt like was Benoit vs Gurrero. Why did we have to sit thru a match that can be on WWE at anytime?! I hope they do bring back ECW as another federation. It would be cool.

"No one else with a scripted promo has the ***** to say this to you Edge but I do! I have two words for you....Matt fricken Hardy!"

Heh heh. And He said "Oh no its Edge, hide your wives!" :D

Yeah I've seen TNA, I don't like it really, unfortunetly. Jeff Jarett needs to learn to give the title to someone else for more than a month. But there is a ton of potential there. If they can get a national TV deal (they are still working on getting the monday night RAW spot now that RAW is going back to USA) they could get decently big.

They did Benoit vs. Gurrero because ECW wasn't always about chair shots and burning tables. It was also about awesome techincal wrestling, and you can't get better for technical wrestling than those two.

This PPV was the best one I've since probably.... oh the last ECW PPV (wwe should take note  ) the Mike Awesome and Masato Tanaka match was just as good if not better than the ones they did 5 years ago... now I just gotta wait to see Hardcore Homecoming for another "Extreme Fix"

One thing that woulda been awesome is if the ring would've cleared out at the end and Taz woulda tazplexed Angle around for a bit for choking him out.

I stayed up over here in england because I just love ECW....I so miss it its been like 4 years and it only seems like yesterday I was watching barely legal or november to remember..the PPV itself was brilliant favourite match would have to be awesome vs tanaka althought dudleys against sandman and dreamer came close second (Flaming table!!!and Cheese Grater :o )....cant believe the crowd just shows the love for ecw is still there and will always will be...do you think wwe should bring the ecw back for like monthly shows are weekly shows and one more thing before I go because I could type all night I will say this.....OH MY GODDDDDDD!!! :D

Yes I saw that on the PPV itself and the reports afterwards. Nothing like a real life hatred being shot on in the ring. JBL is lucky Vince doesn't normally punish people for that. I would fire him on the spot however.

586060021

yeh I hate bradshaw myself...lol..so I agree with that :)

I loved Heyman shooting off on Edge, that was just terrific stuff.

586060095

you know I never would of thought they would of allowed him to say about that...but that was funny I was in stiches at that...*Matt FREAKIN Hardy*

JBL is a smart smart man, but his on-air personality leaves alot to be desired. Unlike other wrestlers who do nothing off-air to make a living for themselves post-career, JBL has a ton of money lined up for when he retires. :)

As for Heat, well I agree no one watches it, but it isn't as simple as just make it an ECW show. WWE has a certain deal with Spike TV and they can't alter it without alot of headache. Nor would Spike even allow ECW back on its airwaves imo. But with the move to USA and how good USA treated WWE back a few years ago before their move to Spike/TNN, I wouldn't be surprised if they offered them a timeslot for an ECW style show. But I think that's just to good to be true, it'll probably never happen.

Bradshaw has lots of money yes, but he's still a douche.

Yes I'm aware of all the problems and hang ups that would occur from trying to changed Heat to an ECW branded show, but I still think it would be a good thing, would take Heat's low ratings and probably double it at least, even if it had to be toned down somewhat, I'm sure they couldn't run flaming tables and cheese graters every week. Wishful thinking I know, but then again 3 years ago I though I'd never see an ECW show again so...

I haven't watched the One Night Stand but it did sound great from reading the results. In my opinion, WWE would probably ruin the ECW federation if they were to expand it to maybe weekly, monthly or even annual shows. To me, they would just be stretching what may have been an awesome ending for ECW to something as a reborn federation that will just get worse and worse. Though who knows if that will happen, it could easily become something good but I just really doubt it for some reason.

Most likely, I'll end up buying the ECW: One Night Stand DVD and if the Hardcore Homecoming DVD, as well as that documentary which I have forgotten the name of... comes out here in Australia, I will get those too.

Here's the transcript of the Paul Heyman shoot promo if anyone is interested in reading it:

Paul Heyman enters the ring, with visible tears in his eyes listening to the crowd.

?Thank You Paul? Chants from the crowd?

Heyman looks very emotional?

More ?ECW? Chants from Paul Heyman:ul Heyman: ?I want you to know that I?m not crying?my eyes are red because I was in the back smoking a joint with Van Dam?

I have a need in my heart to thank Tod Gordon for giving me the chance to be creative and book for you crazy ******s. I have a need to thank that man Ron Buffone and his partner Charlie Bruzzese for sticking with us and sitting in a TV Studio and building that TV show for you?you are the craziest ******s I have ever met in my life?I love every one of you.

(Crowd starPaul Heyman: E.?)

Paul Heyman: ?And I was gonna take the high road and justMick Foley: leave??

Mick Foley: ??Paul Heyman:igh road Paul??

Paul Heyman: ??but I have something to say to you! (points to the WWE wrestlers in the balcony) You see?I?ve waited a long time to say this to you?Eric Bischoff! But in case you don?t notice?it?s not Paul Heyman with his tail between his legs going to a WCW PPV?YOU ARE IN Paul Heyman:33;?

(Crowd cheers and chants ?ECW?)

Paul Heyman: ?Oh wait a minute? wait a minute? wait a minute?hide your wives?it?s Edge!?

(Crowd begins to chant ?You SPaul Heyman:dge as he reacts with a laugh and starts drinking his beer)

Paul Heyman: ?Now Edge?I know nobody with a written promo has the balls to say this to you but?I have two words for you?MATT-FREAKIN?-HARDY!?

(Crowd Erupts in a masPaul Heyman: chanting ?We Want Matt!? as Edge does a spit take with his beer)

Paul Heyman: ?Well, with that?I almost forgot about you! Mr. Shoot Promo himself?bounced Checks?ECW went out of business?Hey John?On a personal note?from all of us just to you?since you want to shoot cowboy?the only reason you were WWE Champion for a year, is because Triple H didn?t want to work Tuesdays??

(JBL mocks Heyman by iPaul Heyman:telling Elizabeth that he?s coming to heaven with a heart attack as the crowd erupts in approval)

Paul Heyman: ?Now one more time for old times sakes?right there so the whole world can see us?this ain?t WCW?this ain?t Monday Night RAW?this ain?t SmackDown!?this ain?t even WWE?this my friends?is E-C-F***ING-W!!?

(Crowd chants ?ECW? as Paul Heyman exits the Hammerstein Ballroom)

This introduced my GF to ECW, and she couldn't believe it ;)

Yeah bradshaw is a loser, a bully, can't shoot a promo and certainly can't wrestle. Why he is even on my screen is beyond me.

Shame there was so much WWE in the event. ECW fans didn't need Austin coming to save the day for them!

    • An actual cosmic "Eye of Sauron" had been looking straight at us all along by Sayan Sen Image by Kovin P. Vasquez via Pexels | Not representative An international team of researchers has solved a long-standing mystery surrounding a distant blazar known as PKS 1424+240, helping explain why it produces some of the brightest high-energy gamma rays and cosmic neutrinos ever observed despite appearing to have a relatively slow-moving jet. The findings were published on June 6 in Astronomy & Astrophysics Letters. The study addresses a broader challenge in astrophysics: understanding how extreme cosmic objects accelerate particles to very high energies and produce very high-energy (VHE) photons and neutrinos. PKS 1424+240 is located billions of light-years from Earth. It has attracted attention for years because it is both a powerful source of VHE gamma rays and the brightest known neutrino-emitting blazar in the sky, according to observations by the IceCube Neutrino Observatory. It is also associated with one of the strongest peaks in IceCube's nine-year neutrino sky map A blazar is a type of active galactic nucleus powered by a supermassive black hole that pulls in surrounding matter and launches jets of plasma moving close to the speed of light. What makes blazars unique is their orientation. One of their jets points almost directly toward Earth, making them appear exceptionally bright across the electromagnetic spectrum and allowing scientists to study some of the most extreme physical processes in the Universe. The scientists exclaimed it's like the 'Eye of Sauron' in deep space. Usually, the brightest gamma-ray-emitting blazars are expected to have jets that appear to move very quickly. However, radio observations of PKS 1424+240 suggested that its jet was moving much more slowly, creating a contradiction that became part of a long-running problem known as the "Doppler factor crisis." To investigate, researchers analyzed 15 years of observations from the Very Long Baseline Array (VLBA), a network of 10 radio antennas spread across the continental United States, Hawaii and St. Croix. Using a technique called Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI), astronomers combine signals from widely separated radio telescopes to create a virtual Earth-sized telescope capable of revealing extremely fine details. The team combined 42 polarization-sensitive radio images collected between 2009 and 2025, creating a much deeper and more detailed view of the jet than had previously been possible. The observations were carried out as part of MOJAVE (Monitoring Of Jets in Active galactic nuclei with VLBA Experiments), a long-running program that studies the brightness, polarization and magnetic field structures of jets produced by active galaxies. The project aims to better understand how activity near supermassive black holes is linked to high-energy radiation and neutrino emission. “When we reconstructed the image, it looked absolutely stunning,” said Yuri Kovalev, lead author of the study and Principal Investigator of the European Research Council-funded MuSES project at the Max Planck Institute for Radio Astronomy. “We have never seen anything quite like it — a near-perfect toroidal magnetic field with a jet, pointing straight at us.” The image revealed an unusual geometry. The researchers found that Earth lies almost directly in line with the jet, with a viewing angle of less than 0.6 degrees. In simple terms, astronomers are looking almost straight down the jet. This turned out to be the key to the mystery. Because the jet is aimed almost directly at Earth, a relativistic effect called Doppler boosting dramatically increases its apparent brightness. The study found that this effect boosts the emission by a factor of about 30 while also making the jet appear slower than it actually is. “This alignment causes a boost in brightness by a factor of 30 or more,” said Jack Livingston, a co-author at the Max Planck Institute for Radio Astronomy. “At the same time, the jet appears to move slowly due to projection effects — a classic optical illusion.” The nearly head-on view also gave scientists a rare look at the jet's magnetic field. Using polarized radio signals, they detected a clear toroidal, or doughnut-shaped, magnetic field component. The observations suggest the jet carries an electric current and that its magnetic field helps launch, shape and stabilize the flow of plasma. Researchers believe this magnetic structure may also play a key role in accelerating particles to energies high enough to produce both gamma rays and neutrinos. “Solving this puzzle confirms that active galactic nuclei with supermassive black holes are not only powerful accelerators of electrons, but also of protons — the origin of the observed high-energy neutrinos,” Kovalev said. The research was conducted under the MuSES (Multi-messenger Studies of Energetic Sources) project, which investigates how active galactic nuclei accelerate particles and generate different cosmic signals, including light and neutrinos. Scientists say understanding how protons are accelerated and linked to neutrino production remains one of the major unanswered questions in astrophysics. The findings help explain why some blazars can appear to have slow jets while still producing extremely bright high-energy emissions. More broadly, the study strengthens the link between relativistic jets, magnetic fields, gamma rays and high-energy neutrinos. Researchers say the results provide new clues about how some of the Universe's most powerful natural particle accelerators work and offer important insights for multimessenger astronomy, which combines different types of cosmic signals to study extreme events in space.
