Joey Styles has posted comments at 1wrestling.com on his experience this past weekend at the two ECW reunion shows. Here are some of his more interesting comments....

- Jerry Lynn had not wrestled in 10 months and was the best worker on the show...TNA should get a clue and make money with him. He is better than Daniels and Styles.

- Raven looks more like a star in his ECW gimmick. TNA should get a clue and make him dress that way and then but the belt on him.

- Everyone at WWE was very polite and professional. I was expecting to get hazed and as such, did not bring a bag that could have been crapped in while I called matches.

- I must have been dreaming that Vince McMahon WWE spent a small fortune to completely and accurately re-create ECW.

- Did I actually sign a WWE contract? I must have. A pig just flew by my 16th floor office window and hell just called to thank me for the snow.

- Francine still has huge boobs and her butt looks better.

- Shane Douglas has not but it only makes being his friend more fun. I wouldn't want to be his enemy.

- Vince McMahon didn't punch me in the mouth...yet :)

- Shane McMahon looks like his Dad. He didn't punch me in the mouth yet either.

- When do I get to meet Stephanie?

- Can someone please tell me what the hell Meanie said about JBL to prompt a beating like that?

i just watched the ppv and i enjoyed it very much, they should definatly do it more often but without the whole wwe presence and if vince doesn't get involved and leaves everythign to heyman and dreamer.

also did i just read that someone thought cena was better than benoit? maybe his mic work is better but not wrestling. cena is crap, i haven't seen him pull off a great match yet and his rapping thing is getting boring and annoying. i say put the title on jericho or christian (he rules so much).

I did not see the show but based on the reactions I've heard, I think I'll order it tomorrow. I've heard rumors that with the new USA tv deal that Velocity and Heat will be gone and the WWE will only get one hour at 10PM on Saturday night. This seems like a perfect slot for ECW. I still may be dreaming though. As much as Smackdown is in the toilet I don't see it getting replaced by ECW, especially after seeing who Smackdown drafted this week. Despite how much I'd love to see this happen I really don't think it is going to. If we get any regular ECW programming I think it will be on Saturday and even that isn't likely. At the very least I would like to see a reunion every year, but I think the Saturday timeslot makes the most sense.

As for Cena dropping the belt I think it will happen for sure. Here is my prediction: Christian wins it and goes to smackdown. Here's my reasoning behind that; there is a Smackdown news conference here in Canada near the end of the month and it was just announced that Christian will be there. I could be reading too much into the matter but I don't think I am.

Lmao i know, i wonder what he did to deserve that. Anyone else seen who got traded to SD? I wont say because it might spoil it for some people.

yep I saw who got traded on wrestling news website and im not suprised he got traded he was one of my first ones I thought that would go to smackdown.

styles rules man...I wish he would go to wwe and commentate with jim ross but I think the only time he will go with wwe properly will be if ecw were to reform into a weekly show.. :)

Heyman and Dreamer booked the PPV, that's why it didn't suck you know what.

And as for Cena better than Benoit?!?!? My god, who would EVER say that? Benoit is one of, if not THE best technical wrestler in the world today. I'm sure there are Japanese wrestlers who are better, but since I am not up to speed on Japanese wrestling anymore, Benoit remains #1 in my book. Jericho, Angle and hell HBK (the man!) are a billion times better technical wrestlers than Cena is. Cena is to green, he has the skills but isn't there yet.

I think John Cena is a Crowd pleaser at the moment the fans go wild when he goes out and wrestles soon he will become a bigger thing and maybe down the line will be bigger then hogan (tho I very much doubt that)..lol

The ECW One Night Stand DVD is going to be released stupidly fast, a June 28th release!

The going round is that the WWE production team is working overtime on the ECW One Night Stand DVD, which is being worked on quick for a June 28 release. It will be interesting to see if they allow the curses on the DVD, since the PPV edited them off as it was advertised to be TV-14.

Scheduled extras for the DVD are:

- Two TV commercials

- ECW videos featuring Tommy Dreamer, Sandman, Rob Van Dam, Sabu, and the Dudley Boyz

- The "ECW Funeral" from RAW.

- Video feature on the ECW fans at the PPV, which will include post-show interviews with fans outside the Hammerstein Ballroom.

WOW...Looking forward to that....last thing about the video feature could be cool...seeing what they all thought about it..other that the other features we have seen multiple times but wont mind seeing again :D

Benoit is definately one of the most technically sound wrestlers in the WWE and North America. What you have to realise is that Cena was only in OVW for 1 & 1/2 years. That means he's only been in the business for 2 and a half years now. Compared to the guys you mentioned, he has atleast 10 years less experience. Even comparing him to Orton is unfair as Orton has been in the biz all his life. Cena has mic skills that blow away three quarters of the roster and with time his in ring skills will develope. I have faith that Cena will carry Raw in the future but he needs time to become a better wrestler.

Another ECW PPV in 2006?

According to PWTorch.com Audio Updates, Several backstage sources are saying that there will be another ECW PPV in 2006. If the buyrates for this past ECW PPV come in high, they may even do something even sooner. The buyrates in the north-east united states are already very high, so if the rest of the country follows suit, there?s definitely a chance to see more of ECW very soon.Evidence of a possible full-time ECW return?b:whistle:e:

Meanwhile, Masato Tanaka also arrived with Omori at Narita Airport in Chiba. Tanaka said that he is expecting to continue his participation in ECW in America shortly. That would indicate that ECW is making a full comeback if he's not misspoken.

I never had the pleasure of watching any ECW stuff as I have on ly been watching wrestling for a few years.

Man I knew RVD was good and people say he should be the champ in WWE but I just couldn't see it.

His WWE character seemed too one dimensional. But after seeing him doing that shoot style interview thing I can definently see why people are saying what that are about him.

The WWE writing staff need shot for messing up with RVD (although you could say that about most of the writing in the WWE)

Anyway back to the pay-per-view, OH MY GOD I have never cringed so much watching wrestling in my life. When awsome put Tanaka through the first table (the one proped up on the guard rail) I thought Tanaka had broken his neck!!! And when super crazy did the moonsault from the balcony :) how sweet :)

I wish Vince would release the old ECW stuff on DVD so I could watch more of the old stuff (the promos showing the old stuff was just about my favourite parts)

Hope thats true :p

Apparently Vince is taking no action against JBL - because Vince likes him and he is a "kiss a$$".

586072674

yeah i read meanie's version of what happened and i can't believe that vince didn't/isn't going to take any action against him, it's a joke. obviously JBL showed everyone that blue meanie was right and that he is a bully.

The truth of the matter is, Vince doesn't do anything to anyone unless its SERIOUS like drug usage or criminal activities. Doing some stiff hits against the meanie isn't considered "major" and to be honest it isn't major. There are plenty of wrestlers who are stiff, hell RVD is about as stiff as they go in the ring, and JBL has a longgggggg history of being stiff against opponents. Now of course, JBL thinks he's hot stuff because he was champion and perhaps thinks he can get away with things now, but I don't think so. The man is smart, he's rich and doesn't HAVE to wrestle. He wrestles because he loves it and likes to make people happy when they watch him. Same goes for 99% of the wrestlers you watch every Monday or Thursday night (and whatever else you watch).

Vince probably told him to lay off, and the usual "don't be stiff like that, and don't make personal matters public like Matt Hardy did"

Matt should never had made it as public as he did, it made him look like a damn crybaby. Now I know it hurt him alot to be betrayed like that, but do you see the average person posting about it on their (very) public website?

But I do agree he should never have been fired. I still kinda think it might be a work...but then again.

he didn't even punish hardcore holly after he beat up dupree, some people never get punished while some people like matt hardy get fired for telling his side of the story, even though he was very public about it i don't think he deserved to get fired.

586074715

I was just about to mention that. Did you see the huge ass bruise over dupree eye. Hardcore Holly is tuff, thats why i dont like him.

    • AMD RX 9070 GRE AI, Blender benchmarks vs 9070 XT, 7800XT, Nvidia RTX 5070, 4070 by Sayan Sen Earlier this week, we shared the first part of our review of AMD's new RX 9070 GRE. It was about the gaming performance of the GPU, and we gave it an 8 out of 10. As a follow-up, similar to how we did with the 9070 XT and non-XT, we are doing a dedicated productivity review for the RX 9070 GRE as well, where we compare it against the 9070 XT, 9070, 7800 XT, as well as Nvidia's 5070 and 4070. This will include AI, rendering, compute, and more benchmarks. AI performance, especially, is a very important metric in today's world, and AMD also promised big improvements thanks to its underlying architectural improvements. We will be pitching it against the data we already have for the RX 9070, and RX 9070 XT, but also the Nvidia 5070 FE, MSI GeForce RTX 4070 VENTUS 2X 12G, and Gigabyte Radeon RX 7800 XT GAMING OC 16G as they are in a similar price class, but also because we do not have a comparable 5060 Ti card lying around here that we can compare it against. Before we get underway, this is a collaboration between Sayan Sen and Steven Parker, who lent me his test bed. Also, there was no editorial input from AMD. First up, the specs of the RX 9070, 9070 XT, and 9070 GRE, which were given to us by AMD: Radeon RX 9070 GRE Radeon RX 9070 Radeon RX 9070 XT Boost Clock: Game Clock: up to 2.79GHz up to 2.20GHz up to 2.52GHz up to 2.07GHz up to 2.97GHz up to 2.40GHz Stream Processors 3,072 (48 CU) 3,584 (56 CU) 4,096 (64 CU) Ray Accelerator 48 56 64 AI Accelerator 96 112 128 ROPs 96 128 Texture Mapping Units 192 224 256 Memory 12 GB GDDR6, 18Gbps Clock, 192-bit Bus 432 GB/s 16 GB GDDR6, 20Gbps Clock, 256-bit Bus Effective Memory Bandwidth: 640 GB/s Infinity Cache 48 MB (3rd Gen) 64 MB (3rd Gen) Card Bus PCI-E 5.0 X16 Output 2x HDMI 2.1b 2x DisplayPort 2.1a Power consumption 220W 304W Recommended PSU 650W 750W Slot width 2x 3x Price (SEP) $549 $599 As you can see from the specs above, it is less than the standard RX 9070 in every way that counts, except for slightly higher Boost and Game clock speed. Design Moving on, the RX 9070 GRE we were given is an XFX Swift triple-fan, dual-slot design with two 8-pin connectors. At 30cm (self-measured), it will fit in most systems easily. There is no RGB either. The AMD Radeon RX 9070 GRE by XFX from all angles. Test system Our test system consists of the following: Lian Li O11 Dynamic Mini V2 Flow (Amazon|Newegg) ASUS Z890 ProArt Creator WiFi (Amazon|Newegg) Intel Core Ultra 7 270K Plus (Amazon|Newegg) Thermal Grizzly KryoSheet - 44x37 (Amazon|Newegg) 2x 16GB G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB (7200 MT/s in XMP) (Amazon|Newegg) Sabrent Rocket4 Plus 2TB SSD (Amazon) Windows 11 25H2 (Build 26200.8246) AMD shared a press driver based on the recently released Adrenaline 26.5.2 that we were required to use. We now move on to our benchmarks. First up, we have Geekbench AI running on ONNX. For some reason, the 9070 GRE does exceptionally well here in both half-precision (FP16) and single-precision (FP32). It manages to beat the RTX 5070 and RX 9070 non-XT, and is only behind the 9070 XT. Since Geekbench runs in short bursts instead of continuously hammering the graphics card, it seems the GRE's faster boost clocks are helping here. Next up, we move to the UL Procyon AI test suite, starting with the image generation benchmark. We chose the Stable Diffusion XL FP16 test since it is the most intense workload available on Procyon. The Nvidia cards do very well here, as even the 4070 out-muscles AMD's best fairy easily. The positive thing about the GRE is that it gets quite close to the 9070 non-XT in this test; this indicates that the VRAM does not play a very big role here, as SD XL relies on float16 (FP16). So this is something to keep in mind again. If you wish to work with float32 AI workloads, graphics cards with larger than 12 GB buffers would likely emerge as victors. Regardless, the gains are still massive on AMD's 9000 series compared to the 7000 series. Following image generation, we move to the text generation benchmark. This is one test where the 9070 GRE struggled, quite a lot. It seems that the 12 GB VRAM and lower memory bandwidth of the new Radeon 9070 GRE are hurting it quite a bit; the split is massive, especially in a test like Llama2, which packs 13 billion parameters. As such, in all the tests, the 9070 GRE is the slowest of the lot. Next, we tried Blender, and here the AMD GPUs were beaten by Nvidia. Rendering is something the Green team has always had a lead over the Red side, and it has not changed so far. On the positive side, though, the 9070 GRE shows significantly better results than the 7800 XT, which means AMD is on the right path. Catching up to Nvidia, though, will require a lot more effort. And we hope HIP and ROCm can keep improving. Wrapping up AI testing, we measured OpenCL throughput in the Geekbench compute benchmark. The RX 9070 GRE alongside the 9070 did not fare well here at all, even falling behind the 7800 XT. Interestingly, even the RTX 5070 could not beat the 4070 on OpenCL, so perhaps this suggests that OpenCL optimization may not have been a priority for either AMD or Nvidia in the modern era. Conclusion We reached the end of our productivity performance review of the 9070 GRE, and we have to say it's a mixed bag. Unlike the 9070 and 9070 XT, the GRE excels in some areas while losing ground fairly easily in others. Similar to how it happened in gaming, any time the card's memory subsystem gets hammered, it tends to fall behind the others. This was the case with text generation, wherein we saw the VRAM sometimes hit its maximum available 12 GB of usage with larger model sizes. So what do we make of the RX 9070 as a productivity hardware? It can certainly be used, but you have to know it has its limitations. For those looking for a GPU that can deal with more, AMD recently unveiled the Radeon AI PRO R9700, which is essentially a 32 GB refresh of the 9070 XT with some additional workstation-based optimizations. On a similar note, the new Ryzen AI Halo platform is something you can consider if you want to set up a local AI processing station. Considering everything, we rate AMD's Radeon RX 9070 GRE a 7.5 out of 10 for its productivity performance. Price is less of a factor for those looking at productivity cases compared to those considering the GPU for gaming, and as such, we felt it did quite decently on many occasions and can be handy if you need a 12 GB GPU and, for some reason, don't want to get Nvidia.
