Active Directory Problem (windows 2000)

I have had a windows 2000 server running it my home for about a year, It has started to get really slow because of all the software and stuff I was testing on. This server hosts my website and is the domain controller for my house. I decided to format it and then I reinstall windows 2000, this all went fine. But now after I setup active directory when I go add uses or edit the domain I get an error that says "Can not connect to Global Catalog to verify..." And so I can not really do any thing, I thought that I might have configured it wrong so I formatted again but now it is doing the same thing :( To install active directory both this time and originaly I followed the instructions at http://wown.info/j_helmig/w2ksvrin.htm Any Ideas What I am doing wrong?

Make sure you have the itself as the primary DNS server. Sounds like it cant find itself in the DNS lookups. Also make sure you configure your DNS for forwarding to your ISP's DNS servers.

Open AD Sites & Services expand the server and right click NTDS settings. Check global catalog, should work fine after that.
