robotintestines
I have found a .theme who's visual style I would like to edit for my own use in StyleBuilder. StyleBuilder can only edit .msstyle files. How do I extract the msstyle from the theme? zhangm Supervisor Posted July 10, 2005 Supervisor Share Posted July 10, 2005 .theme and .msstyles are two entirely different things. A theme defines what wallpaper, msstyles, cursors, etc to display. A .msstyles file contains the visual style. There is no .msstyles file inside a .theme file. M118LR
I don't know if this will help you or not. You can open a .theme file with notepad and edit anything in there. when you are done remember to hit save or save as if you want to change the name of the .theme. A visual style (*.msstyles) is the file that skins the windows, taskbar, start menu, and other elements of the Windows appearance. Visual styles are loaded in the Appearance tab of the display properties dialog. A theme (*.theme) is a visual style with saved settings, wallpapers, icons, and so on. Themes are loaded in the Theme tab of the display properties dialog. When people say themes, they usually mean visual styles. .theme is just a pointer. what visual style do you want? download that one and edit it. They're seperate files. Normally found in C:\Windows\Resources\Themes. I assumed dreamz was trying to tell me to to edit the .theme file instead (like M118LR suggested later), and I was unable to find information on this in his guide.
