SUSE 9.3 freezes when I get a network connection?

Recommended Posts

Hey,

When I install SUSE 9.3, ( I have a Belkin F5D6050 usb wireless adapter which uses the atmel-firmware driver rpm) after doing a clean install, when I get a network connection and the light on it flashes to show activity the whole system locks up.

Any ideas? This doesnt happen in 9.2.

I had the same broblems with my Linksys wusb11 (also atmel). have you done an online update yet? mine seemed to resolve itself after updating the kernel. you'll need to be wired for the update, of course.

No, ive not managed to run an online update. As soon as I get a connection, it just locks up completely :( It doesnt do this in 9.2 however :( Is there an RPM for the kernel update i can download, then do a fresh install, and then install the update?

thanks

You can update the kernel with a few RPMs which you can transfer to your SuSE box via CD, perhaps a USB key or similar?

I would do, but they dont have built in support for my network card. Usually its easy, just install an rpm. They dont support rpm's, and installing and configuring it from source is a pain in the ass, ive never gotten it to work.
