This is a small error that I think only pertains to Firefox. I noticed that when I scroll down the scrollbar the blank space above and below overdraws itself 1 pixel outside making it look kind of funny.

I can live with it, but I'll be your mail order wife if its easy enough to fix. :p

We  you kol

Been using it since day one with no change...

And here is another small one I just added. It under/overdraws when the start menu turns into a second frame.

Im going to take a look later, I want to finish my new theme first.

I'll keep this start button. If I make the startbutton to show the word "Start" it will show the xp flag too, and I dont want the theme with that flag. Sorry.

Kol, could you send me the art you used in the WindowsBlinds version for the logoff/shutdown screen? I want to reshack msgina.dll to make my dialogs fit with the theme.

EDIT: Nevermind, took them directly from the WBA file.

I was thinking about create that but I dont know yet.

nice theme... i've been using the black version for a couple of days now, and it's still there... usually i get sick of dark themes in about a day or so...

could use a more polished shellstyle, but other than that it's definitely good... some minor bugs, but nothing major that hinders productivity...

light blue captions take a little getting used to, and i had to change the window background to white... progress bars take some getting used to... my other machine runs the luna elements 3 theme which has just the nicest progress bars... would strongly suggest "ripping these off"...

If I knew how to create a shellstyle that resembles the way it is in Vista, I would do it so people could just replace the shell for the theme. I have done it for the dark themes, but the silver one doesn't look good because the borders for it are black and it looks out of place. Jemaho did a nice job with his version, but I think a few things in the one KoL did are cleaner and more streamlined.

The only disappointment I have with the newer visual styles is that hardly anyone adds the new style shellstyle to them like Jemaho did with his. I prefer having them at the top to give me more window real estate :)

I dont think you'll see one of my themes with top shellstyle. I dont like how it looks. The only theme that I included a top shellstyle was my other port of Longhorn and it wasnt the main shellstyle.

KoL are you planning an update to your VS? or is that it? I'm not complaining, I really like it. With Nvidia transparency and a system tray clock mod, and using iconpackager to do Vista icons, things look really good now.

I need to change some images to PNG but Im having problems with this theme and PNGs.

    • "just $100 per TB"? Just? Are we trying to make this seem like the new normal? Kinda weird to make it sound like that is not a ridiculously expensive asking price.
    • The reviews you refer to mean nothing. Where there is no journalism there is no reason to call the gaming media's opinion pieces "reviews". For GP games there is indeed a metric for success - increasing subscriptions. Which turns in revenue. The only circumstance in which subs do not rise when great is being released is a Game Pass system where the company is close to fully saturated with customers in a subscription. However, in that case as the theory goes you spend aplenty in all kind of games - from shady live service cash cows and customer offending agitprop crap in purple colours to robust and entertaining single player games. And keep a solid level of profitability. Ignoring the simply innocuous but mid games MGS has released primarily of the second kind.
    • Report: Microsoft to use AWS to help GitHub deal with a major surge in demand by Pradeep Viswanathan Thanks to the surge of coding AI agents, GitHub's usage has skyrocketed over the past 12 months. To meet this demand, GitHub started with a plan in October 2025 to increase capacity by 10x. However, by early this year, the company realized that it needed 30x scale. This rapid growth has caused severe strain on the platform's reliability, resulting in several small outages over the past few months. In April, GitHub published a long blog post explaining the steps it is taking to resolve these reliability issues. In the post, the company also confirmed that it is working toward a multi-cloud architecture for better resilience. Today, Business Insider reported that GitHub is turning to Amazon Web Services to help deal with a major surge in AI-driven coding activity. It is important to note that GitHub is still in the process of moving completely to the Azure cloud. The current plan is to move the platform fully to Azure by 2027 so that it can scale better as per developer demand. Therefore, the current decision to utilize AWS might be part of a short-term plan to meet immediate demand. A Microsoft spokesperson confirmed that GitHub is using multiple cloud providers with the following statement: For Microsoft, the decision highlights the operational pressure behind the AI boom. GitHub has to stay reliable for developers at a time when rivals such as Codex, Cursor, Claude Code, and other AI coding tools are gaining attention. And the decision to use AWS for computing capacity seems practical given the circumstances.
