Hey, who said the VS couldn't handle thick borders? ;)

screenshot5ea.th.jpg

All right, this doesn't apply to dialogs, but hey, the other windows can get thick-bordered if you go to Display Properties > Advanced > Active Window Border and pick a size of 5 (things get a bit odd beyond that). Voil?!

About transparency, what about making the titlebar of alternating 1px rows of dark gray/transparent? Would that work?

I don't understand why some people need their taskbars to be 5 pixels smaller than standard. Is it really that big a deal? What's the point?

/me prepares to be enlightened

More desktop space, the better.

I can undertand wanting to maximise your space, but in most cases where there's a "normal" version and a "thin" version it's usually only five pixels difference. It seems quite unnecessary for theme creators to go to the trouble of creating a separate version, so some users can recover their precious five pixels. It seems a bit selfish on the part of said users, too.

Here is for everyone that want the white flag.

I wont include thin taskbar with this thin. I dont know why I include compact start menu. To me is useless.

Thanks a lot. I just downloaded "resedit" and I replaced the start menu icon. It works perfect. Now I like it even more with the white flag :). Here is a link for those of you that want to download "resedit."

Link:

Scroll down, at the end, you will see "resedit." Very easy to use also. I downloaded "reshacker," but it didn't work for some reason.

Thanks once again!

After compile in Stylebuilder all fonts will change to default (Normal,Large,Extra large), best way to change Start button in style is use newest ResEdit ver. 2.200001 (with older versions I had problems, because ResEdit can't found unpacked images in folders.)

I still ain't able to change the start button with resedit... :( but nevermind: I launched up SkinStudio and grabbed the tga's from v1.5... :D after learning how to use that terrible  SkinStudio interface. At least I could create substyles with them ;)

Anyway, I'm still curious.

Excuse a complete n00b, but how did you change the start button using ResEdit?

Is not that hard.

Open the file with ResEdit, Looks for the image on Bitmap, Select edit with photoshop or the program that you use, change and save the image in photoshop and press the save button.

Could you tell me how u go the area of the start button reduced? As u can see from the screenshot below the one i have is the image of the circle start button but still uses the same space as the normal one?

(in short... am asking how to make the area of the start menu smaller?

This is driving me crazy. I replaced the start button with the white flag cersion once succesfully. I then went back to the original, and finally decided to go back to white. The problem is, now whenever I change the button, the colored flag version keeps coming back. This is nuts! When I open the comezar folde rin resedit, i see the white flag, so where is the colored one coming from? I even cleared the temp folder in resedit, thinking htta was the problem. As far as I can tell, the colored flag isnt even in the msstles file any longer..........

I think you just change one version and you are using one of the versions that is not changed. The theme have four version Black Normal and Compact and Silver Normal and Compact

You know, I gotta say...a lot of visual style artists get big heads, whine and bitch about criticism or mods of their work, and generally make an ass of themselves...but KoL, you're a class act man. Seriously. I've very rarely seen any artist encourage others to modify their work, let alone take the time to help them figure out how to do it as well as supply them with material. Wish more could be like you. Good on you.

    • Given only Volume license customers and specific resellers can obtain the LTSC versions legitimately it seems likely that this has been tinkered with quite a lot!
    • Apple CEO Tim Cook confirms looming price hikes due to memory shortages by Hamid Ganji Image via Apple Memory and chip shortages have led to significant price increases for electronics over the past year, and it seems that more hikes are on the way for upcoming smartphones and computers. Apple CEO Tim Cook has confirmed that the company is planning to increase the prices of some of its products due to the ongoing memory and storage shortages. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Cook confirmed the looming price hikes for Apple’s future products, adding that “Unfortunately, price increases are unavoidable.” He also said the company is doing its best to “mitigate the huge increases that are being passed to us, and we’ve been trying to shield our customers from the increases, but the situation has become unsustainable.” The Apple CEO also noted that the allocation of a large portion of memory chips to AI companies has contributed to shortages in the market, resulting in lower supply at a time when demand for devices remains high. “We definitely need memory pricing and supply to return to reasonable levels for consumer products. That’s the bottom line,” Cook said. Cook also added that Apple is ready to use its vast cash reserves to help boost supply in the market because additional production capacity is needed. While he declined to specify how Apple plans to do that, he said the company will not build its own memory and storage factories despite its financial resources and silicon expertise. Cook did not provide further details on the scale of the price increases or which Apple products would be affected, though iPads and Macs could see higher prices sooner than other products. Apple’s next product launch event is scheduled for September, when the company is expected to unveil the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and its first foldable iPhone. It remains unclear whether the upcoming iPhones will be affected by the price increases, but given the current memory shortage, higher prices seem increasingly likely. There is currently no clear timeline for the end of the memory shortage. Samsung, one of the world’s three largest memory chip manufacturers, recently said the shortage could persist for several more years.
    • Downloads does not equal actual usage, even less when the app is pre-installed in some Galaxy phones.
    • +1000 to this, don't understand why they added that margin around the top bar, even the close button is a PITA to click without aiming. Ofc, this is just preview and hopefully they will revert such odd UX decision before hitting final version.
