Hey KoL...here's two things I've noticed.

In the 1st pic you can't see the mouse in the screenshot I took so I marked where it was at. The buttons light up before the mouse is over them. But I've noticed this on other Visual Styles and it's most likely not you.

In the second pic the button in the Tool Options window of Paint Shop Pro shows up not skinned. Looks kinda like the Windows Media Player bug you had a little while back.

he needs to do this to have the glow spred

Is it just me or did 2.0 change Firefox's font, but not the system font?  I switched to 2.0 (from 1.4 or 1.5) and only Firefox's font was different.

@ peterPL: Danke danke danke!

Ha! I finally have my modded VistaXP.msstyles with white flags and round buttons... hope I can do the same with the WB version at home (I ain't that good with StyleBuilder)

OK I understand that with the Windowblinds version but the Visual Style doesn't do that. Only the Windowblinds one.

Doesn't really even bother me very much just thought I'd point it out is all

hmm im having difficulty with implementing the round start button. It seems its working, but only for the compact menu, if i try the normal theme, its got the normal coulered start flag. Anyone know what ive done wrong???

Would anyone be able to post a link to this theme with the round start button already implemented since KoL released these new start buttons, or it still deemed as copying and you would require permission from KoL???

If you do could it please be optional because i think the black buttons go much better with the black skin... ( i assumed you ment put them in the black skin since you mentioned you arent going to change the silver 1 )

Yeah i figured out what was wrong, resedit only changes the button in ONE of the versions ( AKA Black Compact ) so i just went to the temp folder resedit makes and then just compile and replace :) Then i gave style builder and a shot and edited the visual style to make the icon look smaller so its all good ^_^ I tried to edit my post but i couldnt :s

Ha! Just managed to get the shell animations from the WB version and reshack them into my shell32.dll! :D

There was just one problem, though: in which system file can I find the download shell animation? I changed the one in shell32.dll (shell32.dll\AVI\170\1033), but that animation didn't change :pinch:

I love this theme, but I love the older version better. I have modded it so that the top of the start menu is thinner. I have even renamed some text in here and on the start button by rehacking explorer.exe. The "All Programs" is now "More Programs", but the Start button don't show the text I changed in explorer.exe. It was supposed to show "ozgeek". I also found out that the "start" is painted on the button image. KoL, if you are kind enough, can you supply me a psd of the start button with the text space blank so I can change the label.

Thanks.

    • "just $100 per TB"? Just? Are we trying to make this seem like the new normal? Kinda weird to make it sound like that is not a ridiculously expensive asking price.
    • The reviews you refer to mean nothing. Where there is no journalism there is no reason to call the gaming media's opinion pieces "reviews". For GP games there is indeed a metric for success - increasing subscriptions. Which turns in revenue. The only circumstance in which subs do not rise when great is being released is a Game Pass system where the company is close to fully saturated with customers in a subscription. However, in that case as the theory goes you spend aplenty in all kind of games - from shady live service cash cows and customer offending agitprop crap in purple colours to robust and entertaining single player games. And keep a solid level of profitability. Ignoring the simply innocuous but mid games MGS has released primarily of the second kind.
    • Report: Microsoft to use AWS to help GitHub deal with a major surge in demand by Pradeep Viswanathan Thanks to the surge of coding AI agents, GitHub's usage has skyrocketed over the past 12 months. To meet this demand, GitHub started with a plan in October 2025 to increase capacity by 10x. However, by early this year, the company realized that it needed 30x scale. This rapid growth has caused severe strain on the platform's reliability, resulting in several small outages over the past few months. In April, GitHub published a long blog post explaining the steps it is taking to resolve these reliability issues. In the post, the company also confirmed that it is working toward a multi-cloud architecture for better resilience. Today, Business Insider reported that GitHub is turning to Amazon Web Services to help deal with a major surge in AI-driven coding activity. It is important to note that GitHub is still in the process of moving completely to the Azure cloud. The current plan is to move the platform fully to Azure by 2027 so that it can scale better as per developer demand. Therefore, the current decision to utilize AWS might be part of a short-term plan to meet immediate demand. A Microsoft spokesperson confirmed that GitHub is using multiple cloud providers with the following statement: For Microsoft, the decision highlights the operational pressure behind the AI boom. GitHub has to stay reliable for developers at a time when rivals such as Codex, Cursor, Claude Code, and other AI coding tools are gaining attention. And the decision to use AWS for computing capacity seems practical given the circumstances.
