You may have went to danasoft and had one made, but all the quotes I use in mine are showing up in yours. I used quotes that I added not the ones that came with it.

EDIT: OK I stayed cool about it because I thought maybe it was just Neowin screwing up or something and I guess it was because I see different quotes now.

thnx\

what does is meabn when it says this"a hacked uxtheme.dll or Neowin UXTheme Multi-Patcher"

Edited by ozzapoo

You need to install the uxtheme patch in order to use Visual Styles. microsoft made it so you could only use Visual Styles they created. Patching it lets you use any VS you want

Here's a thread about a sidebar. It's the one I use in my screenshot I posted:

https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?show...2570&hl=sidebar

He may use a different one though, but the one in the thread I posted is the only one I know of with the curved sidebar.

i'm experiencing problems like not having text in some butons and is the start menu meant to be so unwide? isn't is mean't to be wider? and last of all, where do u get the patcher from???

it might be because you're trying to use a VS without patching the uxtheme file. Here's the thread with the link to the patcher

Downlaod the patch. Install it. When it asks something about Windows File Protection, click cancel then restart.

After you restart, unzip the VS and put that folder here:

c:\Windows\Resources\Themes\

Right click on the desktop then go to Properties. Click the Appearance Tab at the top. You can choose which VS to use under Windows and Buttons. Some Visual Styles use different colors or thin taskbars. You can choose those under Color Scheme and if they use a certain font those are under Fonts.

Not all Visual Styles are seen under the Themes tab in Display properties. Most you have to choose from the Appearance tab.

Hope I helped you out

No you DON'T insert the SP2 CD. Just click cancel don't insert anything. What it's trying to do is fix the file you just patched.

Don't have MSN i use yahoo with the same id i use here

kol, just another update for you...

that bug, which i posted, about the bottom corner of the tool box in photoshop, isnt just in photoshop. its an actual bug with the style.

Yeah you'll get that when you use a theme with round borders, I think I cant do anything about that.

Jupp, I figured it out, and I managed to create a glass-alike taskbar aswell :D

If I may say so, this is starting to look good :p

(The glassbar is a 2 layer bitmap made in paintshop, of wallpaper and taskbar snapshots. Layer 2 is pasted onto layer 1 with 70% opacity. And then compiled into the msstyle with resedit)

If you want any kind of transparency like this:

There's a small program called Glass2k that makes the taskbar and all windows transparent and it's located here:

Yes Windows X has included this small utility in his Vista Tranformation Pack V2 back in October.

Maybe people don't want the whole transformation pack. That's why I only made a link to the one program you need for the transparency.

    • Not even an OLED display on the laptops. Also it seems that the laptop design isn't the same as the Surface Ultra model. Looks like bargain bin at high prices.
    • VirtualBox 7.2.10 by Razvan Serea VirtualBox is a powerful x86 and AMD64/Intel64 virtualization product for enterprise as well as home use. Targeted at server, desktop and embedded use, it is now the only professional-quality virtualization solution that is also Open Source Software. Presently, VirtualBox runs on Windows, Linux, macOS, and Solaris hosts and supports a large number of guest operating systems including but not limited to Windows (NT 4.0, 2000, XP, Server 2003, Vista, 7, 8, Windows 10 and Windows 11), DOS/Windows 3.x, Linux (2.4, 2.6, 3.x, 4.x, 5.x and 6.x), Solaris and OpenSolaris, OS/2, OpenBSD, NetBSD and FreeBSD. Some of the features of VirtualBox are: Modularity. VirtualBox has an extremely modular design with well-defined internal programming interfaces and a client/server design. This makes it easy to control it from several interfaces at once: for example, you can start a virtual machine in a typical virtual machine GUI and then control that machine from the command line, or possibly remotely. VirtualBox also comes with a full Software Development Kit: even though it is Open Source Software, you don't have to hack the source to write a new interface for VirtualBox. Virtual machine descriptions in XML. The configuration settings of virtual machines are stored entirely in XML and are independent of the local machines. Virtual machine definitions can therefore easily be ported to other computers. • OK, now ask yourself how are they going to enforce that law? By requiring every single adult to prove their age and provide their legal identity documents to an UNREGULATED 3rd party company that already has a long track record of multiple data breaches. Not to mention, parliament have voted AGAINST this ban, twice, and Starmer is going ahead anyway. So, where's the democracy here, because that looks like dictatorship to me. The solution here is parental responsibility, not government control. Run some public service announcements on TV and UK social media teaching parents how to setup parental controls. That's already been proven to actually work. But the, this is not and has NEVER been about keeping kids safe. It's about control and monitoring. Watching what you're doing online and controlling what you can see and what you can say.
    • Interesting read. I knew the adware was quite controversial at the time, however never realised to the point The Guardian wrote an article about Patchou. I just said no and enjoyed his creation, I’d probably be a lot more wary of something like that today though.
