I actually don't see a problem with what Microsoft did. They aren't trying to stop creativity or even third-party themes, otherwise they would have sued the UXTheme hackers or otherwise. They are only concerned with KoL's work because it is understandable to think his themes infringed on their copyright.

I guess its unfortunate that they did take action, but it is certainly not wrong or even harsh.

Well what I though and still think is that when people want to buy a microsoft os they want to buy it for the performance more than the visual style (well most people anyways), I would of though microsoft would let this slip since other have tried to create skins like vista and Kol was the best one to do it plus the gap of time (5-6 months? I forget)

But I can understand why they want to take it down, doesn't mean I like them forcing him to take it down!. :(

congrats Kol. you made a beautiful recreation of vista and MS took notice. i think thats a pretty big deal.

look forward to anything you create in the future, im sure it will only get better.

Does that mean no more vista shellstyle that is seen in the windowsblind version? Those shellstyle looks awesome!

The latest one is with the coloful flag start button. The white colored flag is the old version.

That was the Msstyles one from beta one

oh thats the one that i really wanted the msstyles beta one, i have the 2.0 version or am i gettin them confused ?

I Think you have 2.0, not quite sure if kol made the white one for window blinds, but the one I got with the white xp logo was the beta one msstyle

    • Yeah, this is absolutely nothing new and EA have done it before. Burnout Paradise, released in 2008, had dynamic advertising billboards that were updated via the internet and targeted people based on location and what EA knew about them from their profile. It was particularly notable for the fact that the Obama presidential campaign ran ads in the game, in an attempt to reach a younger audience who didn't watch broadcast TV any more. It was by no means the first though. Battlefield 2142 from 2006 had the same thing. In fact, Neowin wrote a story about it back then. https://www.neowin.net/news/ba...-in-game-ads-clarification/
    • This is obviously aimed at the education where Apple has lost so much ground to Chromebooks in the last few years, but unless they come up with a comparable management system for education why would anyone switch back?
    • Here's how we arrived at that claim: Note that this is just Play Store downloads. The app is also available on the Galaxy App Store
    • Google Play states the app had more than 50 million downloads. What other metric do you suggest should be used?
