[NHL] 2005-2006 Television schedule?

Recommended Posts

So...ESPN dropped the NHL. ESPN is affiliated with ABC, so i'm guessing they won't show games. Who or what is left?!

The NHL is coming back, i want to watch hockey. Anyone know if there will be any hockey on television this season (besides your local team on a local channel)

I'm thinking the only option would be DirecTV's NHL Package - but then you get all the games :)

good question, but i have no clue...it's gonna be an interesting time. i don't know about you, but i was pretty ****ed about how they didn't think of the fans at all. i love hockey more than anything...but i think they might have to win me back...

The fact that NBC is a news channel and relies on evening programming to keep afloat, I doubt many NHL games will be on, especially during the week. The good thing about ESPN, they had games pretty much every night. NBC isn't like that at all...in fact, the only sporting events I remember them televising during the week were the Olympics and the World Series.

NBC Sports is crap. I've never liked them. So, you might as well get that DirecTV package. Does anyone know if FoxSports will be doing games so I can at least keep up with the Sharks?

The NHL is still working out offers from numerous stations, such as Spike TV, ESPN and other cable companies. Comcast is also in the bidding, apparently.

The NHL.com website still links to ABC and ESPN.  Perhaps their contract has not completely expired.

Well, thats good news then....there is still hope :)

i've been reading that ESPN is interested in a deal for a smaller price, and only if shootouts are implemented. I've also read that HBO may be interested.

i'd be cool with shootouts...

need to keep win/loss.  too many colums in the past with the OT/OTL or whatever.

Shootouts will be a given (along with the redline elimination).

We'll have a 4-on-4 or a 3-on-3 overtime period and if that doesn't settle it then a shootout will.

Ties? We don't need no stinking ties!

Wrong..5 minutes of 4-on-4 then a 3-man shootout.

Has that been decided officially? Was it announced today (or yesterday)?

They were seriously going to consider a 3-on-3 overtime rather than the 4-on-4 that they used last year (that they actually played).

Maybe the NHL web team never updates the links.

Here's the rule changes starting this season.

The following rules changes will take effect for the 2005-06 NHL season:

DIMENSIONS OF THE RINK

The neutral-zone edges of the blue lines will be positioned 64 feet from the attacking goal line and 75 feet from the end boards in the attacking zone. The addition of four feet in each of the offensive zones should encourage more offensive play, particularly on power-plays.

The goal lines will be positioned 11 feet from the end boards, two feet closer to the end boards than previously.

The size of the neutral zone will be reduced to 50' from 54'.

The blue lines and center line will remain at 12 inches in width.

FEWER STOPPAGES, INCREASED "FLOW"

Passes from behind the defensive blue line to the attacking blue line will be considered legal. The center red line will be ignored for purposes of the "two line pass".

"The Tag-up Rule" will permit play to continue if offensive players who preceded the puck into the zone return to the blue line and "tag" it.

ICING THE PUCK

Icing the puck offenses still will be penalized by a face-off in the defensive zone of the team that ices the puck.

A team that ices the puck cannot make a line change prior to the ensuing face-off.

"Touch" icing will remain the practice, although the Linesman will have discretion to wave off apparent icing infractions if they are deemed the result of an attempted pass. Providing the discretion to the Linesman also should have the effect of reducing the number of situations in which a race for the puck might result in an injury to a player.

INSTIGATOR RULE

A player who instigates a fight in the final five minutes of a game will receive a game misconduct and an automatic one-game suspension. The length of suspension would double for each additional incident.

As well, the player's Coach will be fined $10,000 -- a fine that would double for each such incident.

LIMITS ON GOALTENDERS

The dimensions of goaltender equipment will be reduced by approximately 11 percent. In addition to a one-inch reduction (to 11') in the width of legpads, the blocking glove, upper-body protector, pants and jersey will also be reduced in size.

Goaltenders may play the puck behind the goal line only in a trapezoid-shaped area defined by lines that begin six feet from either goal post and extend diagonally to points 28 feet apart at the endboards.

OFFICIATING POINTS OF EMPHASIS

Zero tolerance on Interference, Hooking and Holding/Obstruction.

Goaltenders who play the puck behind the goal line but outside the designated puck handling area will be penalized for delay of game.

Goaltenders will be penalized for delaying the game if they "freeze" the puck unnecessarily.

Any player who shoots the puck directly over the glass in his defending zone will be penalized for delay of game.

SHOOTOUT

Following a scoreless five-minute overtime, three players from each team participate in the order the coach selects.

Each team takes three shots. The team with the most goals after those six shots is the winner.

If the score remains tied, the shootout will proceed to a "sudden death" format.

Regardless the number of goals scored during the shootout portion of overtime, the final score recorded for the game will give the winning team one more goal than the score at the end of regulation time.

UNSPORTSMANLIKE CONDUCT

In addition to the minor penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct/diving that may be assessed by the Referee during a game, Hockey Operations will review game videos and assess fines to players who dive or embellish a fall or a reaction, or who feigns injury in an attempt to draw penalties.

The first such incident will result in a warning letter being sent to the player.

The second such incident will result in a $1,000 fine.

The third such incident will result in a $2,000 fine.

The fourth such incident will result in a one-game suspension.

Public complaints or derogatory comments toward the game also will result in fines.

There will be no shoot outs in the playoffs, Bettman said that yesterday, I'd probably cry if there were shoot outs in the playoffs

Yeah, changing the playoff overtime format would be retarded. 5 on 5 20 min overtime is really exciting, especially during game 7's.

    • with LSTC and ESU, moving to w11 or linux because w10 suddenly will not work when in reality it works and its a better choice, of course there are also developers that only test in 11 or force you to have TPM and Secure boot for the sake of "better security" in games. or most likely people is buying new PC that only ship with 11
    • with LTSC and ESU there are still viable as a stable platform not that they care and let people deal with w11 crashing and burning every month support mean shet if the platform is trash
    • Most boring game ever. Repetitive, empty, predictable, and full of cliches. Total waste of time and money, IMO.
    • Mafia: The Old Country expansion Man of Honor announced, brings back Salieri from original by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe During Summer Game Fest, 2K and Hanger 13 brought out a new Mafia: The Old Country trailer, revealing the game's first expansion. Named Man of Honor, this is slated to add two new chapters to the Enzo storyline that the game follows. There is an iconic character returning to the series with this expansion, with players set to run into Ennio Salieri, the future Don of the Salieri crime family. Fans of the original Mafia, or its Definitive Edition remake, may remember that name as one of the biggest characters in the storyline. This expansion is set prior to his rise to being the kingpin in the City of Lost Heaven. "Set in Sicily during the winter of 1905, Enzo Favara has proven himself a reliable soldier of the Torrisi crime family in the months since his initiation," says the studio about the new chapters. "Now, the Don entrusts him and Cesare with a delicate assignment of assisting Ennio Salieri, a man of honor recently released from prison and intent on reclaiming what is his." Working at Salieri's side, players will be heading into fresh environments as they return to the role of Enzo as a high-ranking soldato. The studio also promises brand-new weapons, fresh vehicles, and charms to collect in this expansion. Moreover, the expansion will add new content to the updated Free Ride mode. Alongside new collectibles and locations, this will add more challenges to beat alongside Salieri, which are described as runs that will "test the skills of even the most elite mafiosi." The Mafia: The Old Country Man of Honor story expansion will release on August 14, 2026, across PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. It will cost $10 for owners of the base game to jump into.
